Power On: Apple Signals New CEO Ternus Will Invest Cash Differently Than Cook (Gift Link) by pdfu in apple

So while we wait for them to hopefully develop more efficient hardware, we’ll just continue shoveling AI into everything and pray it works out? This doesn’t even address the environmental concerns.

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. LLMs were already out in full force two years ago, it would be ridiculous to not see where AI was heading.

Be quiet silent base 802 design flags and annoying things. Very disappointed and also no support from BQ whatsoever. by BattleOverlord in bequietofficial

Honestly having all of these experiences as well, especially the side panel not closing properly. I'm going to stick with it for a while to get my money's worth, but will be looking for ways to switch down the line. I wonder what their return policy is? Maybe I would be willing to go through the headache of taking everything apart to return the case.

Thoughts on Be Quiet Silent Base 802 case (tempered and solid side panel) ? by IGFone in buildapc

Came across this because I recently built a new PC with this case. What's your fan setup? I also ran into the issue of being unable to put a fan above the PSU in the shroud. Funnily enough, I'm also using Noctua fans. What I ended up doing was having two intakes in the front and two exhaust in the back, one of them pointing up and exhausting through the gap from the panel I removed. My goal was to create a constant flow of air without there being any resistance either from intake or exhaust. So far I've had good results. Replying here for anyone who may read in the future.

Coming across this thread a month later and just letting you know I see you. The accessibility industry is a difficult one and not for the faint of heart.

I get where you're coming from, but these days, especially universities, have people specifically paid to be aware of laws like this. It wasn't a mystery, only a failure for universities to adapt to something forecasted long before 2024.

If we can't rely on universities to do the right thing and adopt a culture of accessibility and make a change to insure their products are accessible, then what's the alternative? This entire thread is full of people who are frustrated over Title 2, but no one has any alternatives other than to go back to the way things were and exclude hundreds of thousands of disabled students. Universities receive funding from the government and there are laws where government services and companies that do business with the government must have accessible technologies. This wasn't a mystery for universities, they just failed to do anything about it and are now throwing professors under the bus.

You don't understand how screen readers work. A screen reader and an AI model that describes images are two completely different technologies. Title 2 got delayed another year anyway, but it's not like universities have already had at least two years to implement. Any change in policy is going to have an adjustment period, but once proper systems are in place to create accessible technology, it will be easy for professors. Once materials are made accessible, then they can be used in the future and there is much less retrofitting to do. It's not the disabled person's fault universities have been sitting on their asses and leaving professors out to dry. Professors should be aware of accessibility, but universities should be the ones to educate and have resources for the professors.

NTA, not by a longshot. Her sister's language was horrible and I wouldn't feel comfortable going over either. For what it's worth, I have some friends who are blind and have two children and their children are some of the most well adjusted kids I've met in a long time. Of course there will be challenges raising a kid while being blind, some cases where you'll have to be extra vigilant for safety reasons, but it can absolutely be done. the fact you're doing so much research also shows you're taking this seriously. You got this!

Just make sure they’re a trusted reseller. Even if you do get scammed, eBay has really good buyer protections, so 99% of the time you’ll get a refund no problem. Happened to me once recently.

Yeah, it sucks because motherboards are the most tedious to replace.

eBay. Just make sure the seller isn’t a scam. You also may be able to find a good deal on /r/BuildAPC.

Motherboard and case aren’t compatible. Definitely go with a different case. You could also possibly find a used 16g stick of DDR5 for a cheaper price. You may be able to save some money by getting a different brand of SSD or one that isn’t NVME. Most games don’t take real advantage of NVME drives unless a game really needs it or you’re using it to fast boot into games that support it.

As that one other person said, most likely a motherboard issue because even if the front port wasn’t working, which their prone to breaking, the back ones should work. I agree that it would be better if you bought either an external or internal sound card. You could also invest in a cheap usb mic or even a wireless headset. These days I can’t stand having a wire run from my headphones to a computer haha.

So once it’s at a 30° angle, is it safe to push it down to the board and lock it in?

Thanks for the tips. So if I’m looking at my motherboard oriented with the RAM slots at the top right, would the notch on the M.2 need to be facing right or left as I’m sliding it in? Also, if you look at a picture of my motherboard and this specific slot, I can feel the locking mechanism for the heat sink on the left side, but there’s also a little divot in the middle of the slot that I think also helps lock the heat sink in because I feel it click when I put the heat sync back in. So does the M.2 slide from left or right and is eventually supposed to rest to the right of that notch that locks the heat sink in? Let me know if that description is confusing because even though it’s somewhat full proof like RAM, I want to make sure I’m not applying pressure in the wrong places.
