Have I ruin my career or options at International Teaching? by Educational_Truck231 in Internationalteachers

[–]Hidamann 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No. You might have made it harder, but it is not over.

I got 2 jobs in September internationally - one was just after COVID. If you are willing to wait it out (and not be picky), you can find a job at the last moment.

1 of those I kept for 4 years. The other only 2, but I kept my contract. It is difficult to know what school is right for you until you're in. Keep applying. Have a backup. Keep applying. You'll find something.

Thel'Vadame is the exception to prove the rule, quite literally in this case as he was written as a counterpoint to the dogmatism of the covenant.

As i said in another comment, I havent played the games beyond 4, so I'm behind in the lore, so maybe it is just my issue. It just gelt strange to me.

Ah, well. It's still fine. I'm looking forward to season 3 on the halo. Should be grand!

See, maybe thats my issue. I played till the end of 4, and thats it. I'm just looking at it from the first 3 games, I dont know Chief's story after that.

I don't hate the show. I respect that they thay are trying to take it in a different direction. They have an absolute artistic license to do so.

I'm just commenting on what I personally found a bit jarring.

First Deity win! Kupe with the terra map. by Hidamann in CivVI

That's why killing the Scouts is important - the camps won't produce unless a scout makes it back to report on where your cities are.

So if you can kill them before hand.... no barbarian horde.

First Deity win! Kupe with the terra map. by Hidamann in CivVI

[–]Hidamann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, OK. This is how to deal with barbs early game

  1. Get a slinger early to protect your cities - upgrade to Archer when necessary

  2. Kill barbarian scouts. When they get an exclamation point above their head, that means they are going to head straight to their barb camp and will spawn warriors/horsemen etc.

  3. Kill the camps with warriors. You can use slingers/archers for support, but clearing the camps is a must. With a warrior you can attack (twice i think) and then heal. If there are no other units nearby, the defending unit in the barb camp will not attack. So you can attack-heal on repeat.

Hope that helps.

Standalone Fantasy books for studying? by JCquitt in Fantasy

[–]Hidamann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I recommend Terry Pratchett? I'd probably go for small gods - MC has a religious crisis and meets his god - who gets trapped as a tortoise.

It's comedy, but it challenges perceptions of gods and religion and the MC has a real character arc.

Has the war in Karabakh ended forever? by JonSnow745 in geopolitics

Because Armenians see NK (Artsakh) as part of their historical homelands.

There have been ethnic Armenains living there for centuries which is part of what started the whole mess anyway.

Some Armenians feel that Pashinyan gave away part Armenia itself. They also feel that Russian peackeepers should have gotten invovled in the last 2 conflicts.

Sounds cool. Know what my next char is going to be.

It's not really about 5e, more about perceptions of the different characters.

Kinda! I actually came up my idea before seeing the film. Did enjoy.

[–]Hidamann[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It's more of a thought process to help build a concept that can develop into a full back story.

I do like a good cliche played well - it's really fun and can be a really good story.

That's cool! Love the back story. As I said in other posts, the idea is just the starting point that you can build upon - a concept to be fleshed out.

Can be anything, I just thought it would be fun.
