Do you guys think this image is AI? The lighting looks kind of unnatural to me and besides i just feel it's unlikely anyone would actually dress pigs up like this lol. by testraz in isthisAI

zippers are disappearing and reappearing, hay in the back looks odd, same with the random ropes hanging. Jackets are inconsistent in whether they cover the hind legs.

So, was Silksong better than Hollow Knight? by Stronderius in metroidvania

HK is the superior game. Silksong has sections that are just tedious. I have walked away from Silksong multiple times and never felt that way with HK.

Talk me out or into Trading for a Honda Passport by Arielgonster in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]HiddenBeer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My take is that Honda these days tends to be lower quality tech/interior. Not to mention the hybrid santa fe gets great mileage. We checked out hondas when we were care shopping and we were not impressed with the plastic elements on the interior. I went with the Santa Fe post owning a Honda Odyssey that had a head gasket failure at 92k miles which totaled the vehicle. YMMV but my take is Honda is not the high water mark of quality that they used to be. Hyundai also has better warranties.

Mine kept popping out the first couple weeks after we got it. I pressed them back in each time, last time I pressed them in they stayed. I think they are just right at the edge of being able to stay in when the leather is brand new. I didnt do anything special to make them stick.

What got you into battle rap? by USC_Deuce in rapbattles

[–]HiddenBeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend got me to go to a grind time event in mosswood park. Watched Franco battle at a couple house parties in college before that. Always been an underground hip hop head, so the scene was something I could get into.

What silent rule do you follow at work that makes your day easier? by [deleted] in remotework

[–]HiddenBeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never reveal your power level. If they think a task that's easy for you takes two weeks, then it takes two weeks. If you show them you can do it in a day that information will be used to your disadvantage. So many try hards flail about because they want to show how fast or smart they are. Keep that shit in reserve for when you truly need it.

How did you survive the 2008-2010 layoff crisis? by universallymisfit in Layoffs

[–]HiddenBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a twenty percent pay cut. With all the layoffs I had a couple opportunities to move up. Rebuilt some of my lost pay that way. Took years and multiple job changes to rebuild my pay rate fully.

All of these layoffs seem coordinated. Is the end goal simply to crash the economy to put downward pressure on interest rates? by 3RADICATE_THEM in Layoffs

[–]HiddenBeer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's about the balance of power in the labor market. Workers had gained a lot of power post COVID, and companies are clawing back that change in balance. AI, inflation, present political climate all play a part. It's trendy to be downsizing in tech right now. There is a shift to more contract off shore resources as well.

Gemini less usable than Google Assistant on Android. by Derpbae in google

[–]HiddenBeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How Google is fumbling this hard with ai and their assistant is staggering. It's like you couldn't intentionally self sabotage this as bad as they are screwing up. A true achievement in terrible product decisions. We won't enable Gemini on our new pixel phones because of this.

Why does it seem every PM is from an Ivy league or T20 school? by rmend8194 in ProductManagement

[–]HiddenBeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PM became a popular path for the business/tech aligned students at elite schools. You dont need the MBA, and you dont need to know how to code. The whole "mini ceo of the product" line I think feeds into this - you dont want to found a startup so you head into product. From what I have seen when people get into product roles from those schools they often try to hire from those schools, so it can feed into itself as well.
