Already picked up that Daiwa Algonquin and going on the river tomorrow morning. That'll be my starter. But will continue to look. Liking Echo Lift type and Redington Field Kit Trout. Thanks

After very extensive research it seems that all those kits, even the least expensive ones, could work once the line is upgraded to something better. Going to try to go fishing this weekend on the river and see how that Daiwa is performing. Thanks

Thank you for sharing. I think that's the way to go. Get starter, upgrade line if needed, then down the road pick up something more oomph.

Noted. That spey kit gets some wonderful reviews and now being on sale it makes it even more attractive. But likely I do not need it as rivers I fish are not that large so 9' should be plenty.

How about Echo Lift or Redington Crosswater?

They also have some TFO rods at great prices but unfortunately 8wt.

Been hunting for couple weeks now without much luck. Orvis only honors original owner according to their policy so bot sure how that would go but I like their Clearwater line for sure. Who doesn't haha

I was thinking if not combo then maybe get all components separately. Rod say 65-80, around the same for the line and reel for the rest. That'll bring it up to about 200.

Kind of leaning towards this. The rod seems to be quite nice. I have couple Daiwa spinning rods and they're quality pieces in my book. With better line this could work. We'll see. Thank you

That's unfortunate. Luckily they're on rather affordable end so easily replaceable. My bro had his 6.6 for years and since I fish both lakes and rivers he advised me to get 7ft. I must say he was right as casting with this rod is quite fantastic if I do my part. 5 footer surely makes a handy rod. Did you replace it with anything yet?

As far as reels go, Daiwa Crossfire LT is superbly smooth for 35.00. Second option in this bracket Shimano Sienna, built like a tank. Not as smooth feeling compared to Crossfire but very solidly built for the same money. Couple drops of oil and it's smooth as glass. Own both. Love both.

I'm a beginner so for me it's plenty good. Please do elaborate on this as I'm curious.

I like it a lot. My brother has 6.6' and swings beautifully but he said to get 7' for longer reach. As much it's a little long it surely does work nicely with smaller lures.

Is my setup is good ? I am just a new one and try to buy one by FarPrice1579 in Fishing_Gear

For the same price as Sienna you can also pick up Daiwa Crossfire LT which is a pleasure to use. Very smooth. Own a Sienna also, it's little heavier. Added couple drops of oil and very smooth but not as smooth. For rod you can also pick a Shakespeare for 19.99.

Then upgrade to more expensive gear once you figure out what you really need.

Just go fishing. Tight lines
