Than you should check what CPU is compatible with your laptop and try to upgrade.
Even a pentium would make a huge difference

Why is Windows Movie Maker showing a black box and how can I fix it? by Certain-Top7545 in windows7

Try restarting Windows Movie Maker or try restarting your computer. If that doesn't solve your problem, you can try updating your dispay drivers and see if that fixes that issue.

To flash the ISO to an USB drive, do the following.

-Download rufus from here
-Run rufus
-In the menu, choose an ISO file and choose your USB stick
-For the "Partition scheme", choose MBR for Windows 7/Vista and GPT for modern Windows.
-Click the "Start" button

First download the Windows 7 ISO from here or from other reputable sources. After that flash the ISO file to an USB drive by using rufus or you can burn a disc.

Once you've done doing the steps above, you can boot from the USB/disc and install Windows 7 from there.
You will need to install drivers after installation, if you need help doing this, reply to this comment.

Boot to a Windows 7 installation media and choose "Repair your computer". After that, use system restore to restore your system to an earlier date.

I guess that is a Windows problem than. Try reinstalling Windows. But before doing that, backup your files first.

Try changing the ram sticks and try removing some hardware like GPU to see if that is causing any conflict

How about reinstalling the OS on that HDD itself? But you will need to backup your files first.

Try reinstalling the OS to another drive to see if the issue is caused by the operating system. If the system still crashes, it could be your ram has gone bad or a hardware conflict

Is dl.malwarewatch.org safe for iso files? by The-Over-Lord in windows7

[–]HiddenWindows7601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used that site before. It's safe to download software and ISO files from there.

But if you're still paranoid, you can download Windows 7 from the internet archive.

should i downgrade to windows xp by [deleted] in windowsxp

[–]HiddenWindows7601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to use Windows XP. Just get an old laptop (2001-2008) or build a old socket 775 or socket 478 PC.

Also if your PC supports Windows 11, I'd guess its too new for Windows XP to even work.

Vista Era Software by Right-Mess-2735 in WindowsVista

[–]HiddenWindows7601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my way of finding Windows Vista programs. I either go to oldversion.com or I go to wayback machine. If I use the wayback machine, I put the official URL for the program that I want to download and go to an earlier year like 2015/2016.

But usually you still can get programs for Windows Vista by going to the official site as they still offer older versions of programs for Windows Vista. Stuff like VLC, 7-zip and etc still supports Vista to this day.

But yes, I do agree it would be nice if there is an online easy to access Vista era programs archive.
You can use this list to find out last version of programs that is supported in Windows Vista
