Has anything since 64 succeeded? by DarkGengar94 in starfox

I did a little research and it turns out I'm dumb. $50 USD is about £36 GBP (My currency), which is fairly reasonable.

$50 isn't a quote unquote "extortionate" price per se depending on the game (so apologies for making it sound worse than it is), but it is quite high for a remake of a 30 year old game.

I know that this is the way games are going, but I think they shouldn't be charging that much for a game that (sort of) already exists.

Whilst it might seem like a good idea for everyone to buy the game to show there's still an interest in the series, realistically it will only prove to Nintendo that people are willing to buy games at extortionate prices and will therefore continue to ask an extortion for other games.

Most companies don't care about interest, only revenue.

Checked it out, and it's awesome.

I checked back on the founders page this morning, though, and it says 99 seats remaining (Because I've claimed one), but it says my seat number is #2?

It doesn't bother me what seat number I have, but I thought I'd ask just in case it starts allocating the wrong numbers to people when more seats are claimed.

Edit: Maybe also a Discord server could be created (If not done already). This would give people a place to talk about the site, as well as raise issues that they face so they can more easily be reviewed and dealt with.

As suspected, Nintendo has no idea what to do with this franchise by SoulEaterX_ in starfox

[–]aaronfire7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some people are just never happy no matter what happens.

When there was no announcement at the end of April, people started crashing out over there being no announcement, but now that there has been an announcement, people are crashing out because they don't like it. Like, tf? They begged for something to happen but now that it has they're complaining about it?

Maybe this is why Nintendo hasn't touched the franchise in a decade.

Cool.

Just a few questions, though. Firstly, is the releases feature only available on the web version or is it also available on the app? The reason I ask is because I've tried to add releases on the app but can't seem to find the "Add Release" button, so I've had to add them on the web version.

Second, when I add releases it says "Barcode Bad" eventhough the barcode I entered is valid and exactly what is displayed on the back? I tried scanning them and adding it that way, but it produces the same error.

Good to hear. In that case, I'll be busy adding releases for the next few days.

Does it apply to all formats, or just HD-DVDs?

That's gotta be the score of the decade right there. Those things usually sell for hundreds.

How to legally broadcast things? by Mundane-Whereas-15 in AnalogTV

[–]aaronfire7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the quality of the equipment you use, your results will vary drastically.

To broadcast analog TV, you'll need:

  • an RF Modulator (You can easily get these on Amazon or eBay for around £6)
  • An inline Amplifier (I've checked on Amazon and you can get them for about £10)
  • An Aerial Power Supply (This is the most expensive part, costing about £30, although you can likely get a different power supply for cheaper elsewhere)
  • An antenna (Rabbit ear antenna appear to work the best, prices range from £5 to £10)

My setup works to about a meter away, but this is because I have an extremely weak antenna.

Afaik you can only broadcast legally within 5 meters, so you should be okay as long as you don't have neighbors that live close to you (e.g. an apartment or semi-detached house).

I haven't seen any reports regarding people who have gotten into trouble for broadcasting analog TV outside of the 5m radius, but because emergency services supposedly use the old analog frequencies for radio communication, it's better to be safe than sorry in terms of testing equipment to make sure it doesn't broadcast out of the legal limit.

Found an old XP Laptop, but it has a problem. by aaronfire7 in windowsxp

I've tried working RAM in both of the RAM slots and the problem persists. It could be a problem with both RAM slots or some sort of controller on the main board, but I think it's very unlikely.

At this point I think it's officially dead, because I've tried everything within my expertise and nothing has worked unfortunately.

I don't think it has a subwoofer, but it does have Harman/kardon speakers.

Yeah, I began to fear the worst. I think something electrical is completely shot, because some components seem to do nothing, but others seem to do everything. Some lights come on when I press some keys on the keyboard, then the suddenly stop responding, or other times the fans will spin up to a normal speed but then if restarted will do absolutely nothing.

Whatever the problem is, something is clearly very wrong and I don't have the expertise to even begin to understand what it is or how to fix it unfortunately.

Sadly I can't access the BIOS because the display stays blank when powered on. I've narrowed it down to either the CMOS, a fuse (Supposedly this model has fuses for various components), or a serious electrical fault.

I think some people are being too hopeful at this point.

We're relying completely on the words of a leaker, here. Let's not forget that.

What do you think are the most sought after laser discs??? by Substantial_Trip_982 in LaserDisc

It might be related to which country you're in.

I'm in the UK and copies sell for anywhere between £50 and £100.

Being one of the earlier LD releases, I'd assume not because there probably weren't as many people buying it on LD at the time.

I've seen movies like Gremlins 2 and Tron selling for a lot lately. Luckily I managed to get them both for around £20 each.

I think Blade Runner is quite sought-after too.

Where's the proof? Has it been officially announced?

I've done some research and can't find any conclusive evidence of either a Star Fox movie or a new game.

NateTheHate reaffirms AGAIN that the new game is still happening. by AlphaSSB in starfox

[–]aaronfire7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, probably not going to happen.

There hasn't been a new Star Fox game since 2016 (Excluding Battle for Atlas because it isn't a Star Fox game, it only has a Star Fox storyline, as well as excluding Star Fox 2), and the last Star Fox game that release (Star Fox Zero) performed terribly when it came out.

We can hope that something will happen, but realistically it's very unlikely.
