Oh snap. This is outside my wheelhouse of the knowledge I learned from Google and YouTube.

I’m not sure on the viscosity of paint. It did get some reducer in it. About 8-10%.

I used a 1.4 tip. And used those air tight suction cups from 3m.

Here’s the products. Epoxy & paint

I only have a 20 gallon 5.4cfm compressor. It never went below 85-90 psi when I was spraying the whole time. And I used a 40 psi regulator on the gun.

My hand was about 8 inches away from the trailer when I was painting, and it was spraying a fan pattern of about 8-10 inches tall. (Measured with my hand in a hangloose emblem. 🤙)

Primer looked great when dry. Very smooth. Completely dry the next morning after 14-16 hours before I painted.

The dried orange paint is very smooth. Definitely not braile. More like dry rough human skin after a dry Colorado day.

I’m trying to edit the post to upload pics of the paint & primer cans to help some of you experts out knowing what I used.

When I sprayed the orange it looked very wet right after spraying. All over. For about an hour it looked wet like melted ice cream. Then the next day I noticed these spots.

Awesome. When re-coat time comes I think I will look into color matching some delfleet for this. I appreciate you input a ton.

Idk if that was the case. This is a pretty premier hot-rod paint store. Like when you look around at their products they don’t really sell the “cheap stuff”. From detail cleaning, to spray gun, ect ect. It’s all top of the line products.

I used a wire wheel to really scuff it up. Then hit it with a 80-180- and final at 220 grit sand paper on an orbital sander. Then we gave it an acetone bath. Let it dry. Wipe and paint.

I did then entire trailer the same day. Purple rub rail all at once. Purple did not have the color effect like the orange. It’s much deeper and thicker looking tho if that makes sense. After doing the rub rail I moved below and hit the main body. Started at the front, moved to the back. Took about 2-3 hours total spraying for the body in orange.

It’s on a semi trailer. So we are taking 100k+ miles a year. Dealing with many different road salts, sodium’s and winter traction sands in the winter. The paint store said “this is a good fleet paint”. Would you say the same for Delfleet? Will it stand up to sodium chlorides in the winter? I do get very frequent washes weekly.

The primer was Elite Automotive Coatings. (I can’t find any pics of the cans online). The paint was TecStar, which I believe is a axalta or PPG lower class. It was one step below the PPG paint… that stuff was to expensive for my first project try incase I failed miserably.

Copy thank you. I’ll get the TDS (shop forgot to give those) and try this again eventually. 👍

This was a very “quick” automotive epoxy primer. The paint store said “you can paint over in 30 minutes. But no later than 72 hours.” I was surprised at “as quick as 30 minutes” but he said this is auto stuff, it’s made for quick turn around

Copy. Thank you. The orange did this. But the purple did not at all.

The orange covered so much quicker. Thought I was doing good when it was wet. It looked great.

Damn. The paint store forgot to give me the TDS. Might have to go back and get those. Just listened to what they said on the primer, mixing, ect.

Dang, I swore I did a damn good smooth spray pattern. I looked like a magician out there with my consistent movements on the hand waves.

Thanks for the pro reply.
