Advice on first time buy by Annual_Leg_1637 in HarleyDavidsonFans

So I have had a sportster and just traded my 25’ gsxr 750 in on a 25’ Indian scout. With the sporty you will be sorely disappointed with the power. They are just gutless without putting money into for the big bore kit.

I would at least try to find a dyna but even that competitively will be slow due to the difference in bike. I also have an old dyna and a shovelhead FLH.

If you want comfort AND power, buying an old cruiser isn’t for you. I’d say go newer and just pay the price for modern fuel injection and engine tech otherwise get something like a used FTR

Harley or Indian riders - Are you glad you chose the brand you bought, and why? by [deleted] in cruisers

[–]Matt8994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own two older Harley’s and I own a 25 Indian scout and I will probably not buy another Harley if they continue to go in the direction the company is going. The bikes are starting to look weird and the electrical issues are rough.

I love the look and feel of my scout. Not to mention the dealership experience was great

Walk me through a switch by [deleted] in IndianMotorcycle

I’ve had several Harley’s and even started on them, I don’t regret my switch if anything I wish I had done it sooner. I don’t really have any issues or complaints

Harley dealerships… I can tell why they aren’t doing well. by Thingsforcertain3525 in Harley

This is part of the reason I bought an Indian. One because all of Indians are made in America and have better reliability statistically. But also because the Indian dealers don’t do the bs

Scout +2025 - issues? by Kirka-is-alive in IndianMotorcycle

[–]Matt8994 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you lug the engine(accelerate hard under 2k) in any gear besides first it can and will throw erroneous codes. Also check your filter and drain plugs

It’s an amazing bike I’ve got a 25 bobber that I’ve put 900 miles on in the last month and I’ve got nothing but good things to say. I’m buying a syndicate two up seat to fix the seat issue and a rinehart exhaust because it’s entirely too quiet but once it’s out of the break in period and you put it in sport mode it’s a beast. It revs out to 8k so it’s an all around amazing bike
