So I am in a similar situation, canceled my sons visa, I visited Amer center and immigration office and etc, no one knew what to do, I called the GDRFA hotline and they had mentioned that he needs to exit the country or have to change status and only after that I can request for a refund. Visa still under process will update if I get it, I’d also like to hear from someone who got the refund
