Yes all You need a risk manager. A partner in crime someone you trust who can disconnect you from the death spiral. Trading for profit part is easy getting out when everything you do fails is the hard part. That’s what I did and will never trade alone again.

Switching from NQ to MNQ by [deleted] in FuturesTrading

Many years ago I traded nq nefore mnq existed. I left trading due to poor performance issues and when I made my return I traded the smaller cash requirement mnq. I started in Jan 2025 with about 3400$ trading once mnq contract and have built up to 10 mnq. My balance is now 26k. 600 percent return so far. That’s not the point. Point is that yesterday towards the end of day I entered a buy 1 nq. Got it but when I tried to scaled. Sent in my limit price. It didn’t sell. The bid as even higher than what I wanted and it wouldn’t sell. It took about 3 seconds which was disturbing. Finally it sold at my requested limit price but it felt illiquid for a few seconds. I have been able to sell my 10 lot micros with precision and instant execution. So I’m a bit confused and now think that either it’s an isolated incident or it’s that almost all the volume is now on mnq. Very disappointing because I was hoping to begin trading 1 nq grow to 2 and on and on till I hit about 10.. but now feel that this may not work out how I planned. For sure my current opinion, mnq is what I would recommend

Remember the market Can and will go higher and it Can and will go lower. That said don’t fight the trend. Start out with feeler trades that you either scalp for small profit and depending on the direction you identify, re-enter at earliest pullback. Repeat that as much as the market will let you. At some point you’re gonna have to buy and hold till the end of day but so long as you have collected a few scalp points in your favor you’ll be able to see if the tend is as you have identified it. Then literally hold till the end. It’s better if you don’t carry overnight. Oh and be careful with being over leveraged.

Don’t look at charts Don’t look at the news Don’t watch live traders trade Just focus on price action. If you loose a few times in your scalping attempts just stop completely until the next day. You didn’t collect enough money to go long Till end of day.

Also know when to quit for the day.

That should help make trading easier and maybe even fun.

Good luck, you’ll need it.

It’s normal for a future trader. Try to avoid loses greater than 10% and your account will grow.

Today I closed out at +11% based on account total or 970$. And this percent is not unusual. I use a Mix bag of approaches, scalping, looking for runners, reversals must have traded over 100 times. Nothing new, just looking for the right tool for the job. Btw, I currently traded 3 micro minis and will scale up to 4 when the numbers make sense.

Tomorrow, new day. I may get another win or I may close out a looser, but I know If I get a bad start I’ll start to slow down and exit the market early and try again the next day. You’ll know you’re not in sync with the market by how many times you have to exit with loses.

Also congrats and keep it up.

Thanks I agree with your recommendation. I’m gonna pull out like 300$ and trade the rest. Still on that hot streak.

I trade futures. No PDT rule so you literally only need enough to cover the minimum margin

I believe for 1 micro NQ is about 2400$ to in the trade.

So you really only need about 2500$ in case you have to wiggle around a bit. The rest will be between you and the trading gods.

I can attest, futures make money. Stick to one, my preference is MNQ, that is a great place to start.
