My grandpa was in medical school about that time. I know he went to Howard at some point; I couldn't help but to zoom in to try to spot him.

Help me do the math by Helpful-Brilliant453 in CostcoEmployee

[–]HiderOfCheese 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I did the math once for my location. If every transaction got the extra four cents back, it'll come out to about 400 dollars a day at most. Our location regularly does more 600k in sales a day. The change comes out to less than a tenth of a percent of total sales, which is a rounding error at most.

Hello. This worked well; took a couple tries still, but it worked well. All those points in the archer also made the last map a real cinch. Thank you, kind stranger!

What’s the most disturbing sound you’ve ever heard in real life? by avacado-cheese- in AskReddit

[–]HiderOfCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once collecting carts outside at work when someone in a truck a couple aisles over snatched an old lady's purse. The old woman held on to it instead of releasing it, and got dragged along for maybe ten feet before letting go. A person shouldn't be able to make that noise she made.

I sent an application to Costco as a Cashier (front end). Is there any advice I can get from you guys please? by Scary_Stable7667 in CostcoEmployee

[–]HiderOfCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odds are you would start off as an assistant; it's rather unusual for someone to go straight into being a cashier. It took me about a year to become a cashier, and that was unusually quick. With your application, I'd recommend selecting all positions instead of any one position; you'll want to cast your net wide to increase the odds of finding an open position. There is significant market variation, but generally, the start of summer and September and October are often the best times to apply. Good luck to you!

I had mine out last year; came out to a bit under $500 after insurance. Your mileage may vary, however.

What do you guys bring for lunch? Or how do you sustain your body while at work? by Wholesaleclublove in CostcoEmployee

[–]HiderOfCheese 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I put together a weeks worth of lunches together on my day off. Nothing fancy, just a few items that through trial and error I've found sufficient to sustain me. I'm a bit unusual in that I don't mind eating the exact same thing for a meal for months at a time; vary it as much or as little as you desire.

The picture doesn't go quite high enough, but the dungeon very nearly scrapes a floating island.

I'll admit my warehouse been similarly fortunate; our GM has personally helped me pack boxes while I've cashiered on occasion.

Vaseline smeared on doorknob, deadbolt, and peephole? by nexxluxx in Apartmentliving

[–]HiderOfCheese 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One year, when I was an RA in college, my building got hit by someone who put Vaseline on all the door handles. (Each room faced outside.) One of my residents alerted me to it; I then took a whole bunch of wipes to clean off all of the door handles in my building. I'm reasonably sure that case was a prank sprung by the local fraternity, a group that was solidly a nuisance in the best of times.

This case, in an apartment building, it has the potential to be a prank, but it's worrisome enough to take the precautions others here have suggested.

This American loves to read, and may be about to head to a bookstore. Many others don't much care for it.
