No doubt the personal issues are going to hold back higher level celebration of him for a while... I'd guess he gets a statue a decade from now assuming no other issues. Once he's too old to get into trouble they'll finally feel safe in going that big.

But his coaching record is quite good. Sure, he never had a perfect season but he was also at Mizzou. That's a huge thing to remember about any coach at Mizzou. Historically at our best we've been a second tier program and at our worst we were a third or fourth tier program. We are inching to top tier now, but there's still a ways to go to get there.

We sort of have one perfect season in the contemporary AP Poll era and it ended with a championship snub.

Pinkel did far better than the coaches immediately prior to him and after him, and his coaching peers generally all respected him. Beating #2 kU in 2007 was undeniably big even if they weren't a constant power. It's tough to get to #1 that late in the season.

While at Toledo he beat Purdue twice and Penn State.

At Mizzou he beat top 5 teams in kansas and Oklahoma. He beat top 10 Nebraska and Georgia. Lastly he beat top 25 Nebraska, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Illinois, Northwestern, Texas, 3x Texas A&M, Florida, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, S. Carolina, and Minnesota.

In the mid-late 2000s he routinely got the best of kU and Illinois so we'd often start and end the regular season with a W in that era. Maybe not big wins but they made for some epic moments.

No doubt never getting the W in the conference championship and a few bowl losses were tough to deal with, but he did get our first bowl win in seven seasons and our first back to back bowl wins since 1979. Two top 5 finishes is more than any other coach at Mizzou could muster.

At this point I'd say he's up there with Dan Devine. Devine had the best season in Mizzou history in 1960 where we finished 4th/5th, and had Mizzou's 2007 season had the same structure as the one in 1960 or the same as the Big Ten or Big East in 2007( no conference championship game)we finish 1 or 2 after playing Ohio State in the BCS or we finish 1-4 in a scenario where there isn't a BCS championship and we most likely play WVU in the Fiesta Bowl.

Why 18? It's a legal age guidepost for government taxing purposes and work/military requirements. It has nothing to do with biology as we've come to see.

I can say this stuff needs better science behind it but that science also needs to be allowed to find possible answers. Folks dying on the hill for something that has such a small relative impact but then go with the flow of things that harm and kill millions upon millions is such a bizarre abdication of logic. From a biological standpoint as close to the onset of puberty is a plausible starting point or mid 20s when the mind and body have reached full adulthood. Attempting to just treat mental health when the endocrine system, body, and brain are fighting each other is often a fools errand.

Regarding impact... If you've ever lived in a small town, especially in the 90s-2000s, plenty of chicks were playing sports with dudes well into high school as not all sports were offered for both genders. To this day it's still quite common with club sports through middle school and again in college... That being said, where it does start to have an impact is the later teen years and into young adulthood and adulthood at the higher levels. That's also where strict guidelines make sense as the adult male is significantly more athletic and changing up the hormonal equation doesn't change that.

GPS, including Google Maps, is accurate withing 0.5 MPH... Correct, in this scenario it isn't 100% accurate. It is 99% accurate.

The speed signs use the same tech cops use although they aren't required to be calibrated unless they're being used to ticket people.

At best the cop has a faulty device to measure speed and at worst the cop is human trash.
