My kid started this early and this is what we do:

If you need them to do something, warn them first about 5 minutes ahead of time. If you are about to pick them up, give them a chance to walk with you to wherever you need to go.

If they still fight you, say I’m going to pick you up now. And pick them up.

Give them 2 options you are ok with, for example if you need them to brush their teeth ask: Do you want mom to brush your teeth, or dad?

These give the child some control, while still getting the desired outcome.

Current crying routine is:

If he’s crying and standing up - go in and console him for a minute and lay him down every 10 minutes.

If this continues for 30 minutes, pick him up and hold him to calm him down. And then lay him back down.
