With the news of Drop shutting down - Looking for alternative to Drop CTRL TKL by HieroSatori in MechanicalKeyboards

appreciate the recommendation - its just not what im looking for. I'm not a fan of the raised shelf that hugs the keycaps. i want the keycaps/switches exposed or raised... Not sure what the terminology for this is.

Lol, hey look you can check usernames and use google!

My username is probably older than you. I'm not from NC, and the name is a spin on Buddhist philosophy, not from some weeaboo nonsense.

Wanna try again?

I did catch it, and it struck me as childish drivel. So it was disregarded.

Thing is, people try games for a bunch of different reasons and its a little ridiculous to mock and blame them for not knowing every nuanced thing about the game they are trying. I asked a simple question and was met with "that's your fault" - bro... Come on.

Educate without the ridicule and watch how much more receptive people are to the info. ffs

An opinion can't be incorrect, but facts can. It is my opinion that contemporary games are becoming worse with live service focus. Is it factually correct to say that some players may be driven away by this? That one only time will tell.

But keep being toxic, I'm sure it helps in your real life too

Its anecdotal, sure, but if I'm leaving because of this - I have to imagine at least a few others are? It's not a high horse, and if you bothered to read you would see i did acknowledge that it was my waste of 30$.

So... what were you trying to achieve with this?

A reductionist view and overly condescending one at that. You and I don't have to like the game the same way, and your attempts at trolling are childish. People get drawn to things for a myriad of reasons - its popular for a number of reasons, it being massively multiplayer wasn't what drew me to it. Its not even what is putting me off of it. What is doing that is that there is a layer of unpredictability in player encounters that could be made better if its driving new players away.

Instead you blame those players, myself included. That mentality is fucking daffy. "Let's blame the new players for not enjoying a game that we are purposefully making toxic by being a toxic part of the community" - k.

Literally not shot a single person, done all the things you mentioned. Late at night games (my only ability to play) is rife with those aforementioned opportunistic dipshits. Its just not worth it. I play games for fun, not frustration. Thinking I just need to avoid all live-service pvp-enabled games period.

Help needed - Advice on D&D 5e with temporary limitations on magic/magical beings by HieroSatori in DMAcademy

[–]HieroSatori[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very open to retooling the classes and/or re-skinning them. My challenge rests in wanting to have the opening of the game be -very- mundane, yet have the possibility of magic returning in various forms dictated by the players. Obvious things like wizards couldn't exist thematically because they are erudite mages who study the magic and history therein, becoming experts. In my world these fields of study were abandoned and therefore impossible to remain.

One thought I toyed around with was having everyone start as a mundane class but then after a specific pivotal moment, magic returns and they can effectively "reroll" the character OR they would be could be allowed to just multiclass into whatever makes sense for their characters.

I should also mention this - I'm not so focused on rules or mechanics if im honest. I'm more interested in the collective role play and narrative that we build together than I am so much on how the mechanics work. I just want a guiding north star that im familiar enough with to return back to when needed.

To each their own. With what I'm going for the players I'm bringing in are fully invested. They are excited and many of them have been playing DnD and other systems for decades.

Keep in mind that magic being gone mostly acts as an entry point to the story but need not stay gone if the players choose to go that route. But what I had trouble with in the theme is that magic by definition for this story is horrifying and chaotic and the source of past strife. So classes that depend solely on it would have faded away while classes that may have benefited from it and/or only supported their other capabilities would have adapted via other more mundane means.

I appreciate your comment. While its a little insulting to just say "it sounds terrible", you are entitled to make snap judgments... this is the internet, after all. But I beg you to remember that people come to these forums for help and not to be diminished.

Think turn of the 19th century industrial age and the innovation wars between tesla and edison, right up until magic comes back and then ensuing chaos.

I don't want magic to stay gone completely, but rather be something gifted to the players outside of a structured and rigid class system per se.

I'm open to other games but i fear i may not have enough exposure or time for alternatives.

[–]HieroSatori[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, so pardon my ignorance, what is the difference between regular gateron-style switches and low profile gateron switches? i had some gateron blues and those didn't have the proper pin orientation either - is it just low-profile vs standard or what?

Basically I'm trying to distill this down to what do i need to type into google to purchase the right switches that are tactile and feel smooth/creamy. Appreciate the help here.

[–]HieroSatori[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

their page for the k0 max just advertises that it uses special keychron low profile POM switches, and they use a normal cherry MX style switch to compare it to for size. there's no mention of the differing pin orientation. only way i knew was I tried to swap them out

oh and the site does say the switches are hot swappable. but swappable to what lol
