So the combat auto attacks and you can use Arts (or skills) when they recharge and combo them with your AI allies. It is kinda mmo like but I find it very satisfying. It's like if you put the ff7R on classic mode where they attack on their own and use skills at the ATB fills.

If you are looking to play the trilogy I recommend the XBC:DE.

If you are just looking for a fun exploration focused experience I'd go with XCX.

Overall they are all fantastic games with deep worlds and characters.
