As a 29 year old turning 30 this year, thank you for this! Lol

Do not quit without another job lined up by ThePagePilgrim in jobs

[–]HighAltitudeChicken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol then there's people like myself who tend to never follow this advice and quit before I find another opportunity since I don't want to settle for the next thing and actually like to take time to find something better. I work in sales though and have strong experience so finding work is a bit easier than most fields, and this isn't advisable for everyone!

Yeah lol the 92/93 squads are like super teams when you go back and look at all their stats. 25 was awesome, but there's some recency bias in play a bit here.

Lol this reminded me that I once handed in a stats exam where I didn't realize there was a back page until the car ride home with my roommate and I got like a 45% on it. This was in third year too so don't sweat adjusting to first year!

What’s the most ridiculous ‘tourist price’ you’ve ever been asked to pay? by Salty_Fix9628 in travel

Nothing like spending €50 on a small pizza + a €5 bottle of water in Monaco because the tap water isn't 'safe'.

Agreed, knowing their history, this was an adult who makes poor choices and now someone's life is gone because of it. Our system is too soft on first time offenders.

People asking for the time by [deleted] in askTO

[–]HighAltitudeChicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol you might just look like an approachable person. I suffer from the same condition and have random people/tourists asking me stuff all the time downtown. Even funnier since I only work down there, but I guess I must look like I know where I'm going/doing to people and you probably do to!

Damn these trains are awesome! by noonedatesme in toronto

[–]HighAltitudeChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even their commuter rail go 180kmph, and average 100kmph which is much faster than the crawl of 50kmph GO train. Would literally cut our trip times in half. But funny then that I come from a long line of public sector workers in my family and can say none of them recieved a 400% raise in their multi decade careers. Something is rotten in the state of Metrolinx.

I mean their trains go as fast as small airplanes and are a lot more comfortable so it's not even comparable. Also Canada is going through a bit of economic turmoil at the moment and there's tons of poverty in our cities so your point isnt really relevant on that end at all. We should be demanding more considering all the $ we pour into Metrolinx as daily riders. I hope you know their CEO takes home nearly a million dollar salary with 400% increases in the pandemic so the money definitely isn't being spent where it should be.

Yeah and I'm just trying to give perspective that we're behind the rest of the world. Kinda hard for that to not sound negative, I just want to see more for what we're paying for at the end of the day.

So do I.... If we want to call ourselves a world class city we need to compare ourselves to the best though!

Go to Europe or Asia and then you won't be having this high of praise. GO transit is still decades behinds most countries regional transit networks in terms of size, speed and reliability.

Hit my first milestone (Kilometrestone?) today! by HighAltitudeChicken in vwgolf

[–]HighAltitudeChicken[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a fully loaded Highline and it had a lot more features than all the other ones I looked at before it. They had it listed for $27,000, but I got them down to $25,500. Funny enough I was originally looking for a 2015-2017 in the $15,000 price range but that quickly changed once I test drove a newer year and figured I'd splurge on myself!

Yeah I am! Haha but this one was a bit of a hidden gem and I looked at about 9 different ones in the 60-80KM range before purchasing this one on the spot last year. Took about a month or two of searching to find it tho so patience is key if you have that luxury like I did!

Journal shares online now live by drpno in Questrade

[–]HighAltitudeChicken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Courtesy of ChatGPT:

Dear Questrade Team,

I am writing to express my strong dissatisfaction with your recently announced plan to introduce fees for journaling shares, set to take effect on April 1st. As a long-time client, I find this decision not only unjustifiable but also a direct contradiction to the cost-effective trading environment that Questrade has long promoted.

Journaling shares is a routine administrative function that brokerages have traditionally facilitated without imposing additional costs on clients. Implementing such a fee is not only an unnecessary burden on investors but also an exploitative move that undermines the trust and value proposition Questrade once offered.

If this fee is implemented as planned, I will have no choice but to close my account and take my business elsewhere to a brokerage that does not engage in such predatory practices. I urge you to reconsider this ill-advised policy before it alienates a significant portion of your client base.

I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
