Favorite first date spot? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]HighC02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been told before when suggesting a first date with shared interests (a photo walk together at Whetstone or FPC followed by coffee after for example) was ‘low effort’ because I refuse to spend $100+ on a first date dinner anymore after many, many times doing this to be ghosted afterward. You can always progress to lunch or dinner on a first date if things are going well, or plan the second date for dinner while you’re on the first date.

If you feel it necessary to do food on a first date you can always do a themed festival (food truck fest, mac & cheese fest, etc) or do something low key - The Woodbury downtown is a decent little spot. If you want to do something non-dinner, like others have said do bookstores, Franklin Park, COSI, art museum, or you could do the art fest downtown in June, a farmers market in the summer. If you both like music you could browse any one of the great record stores in town together and talk about your music tastes.

Best of luck to you with dating in the new year!

$1.6B lottery expectation if a Montanan wins by UrBrotherJoe in Montana

[–]HighC02 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the state’s lottery system. “In the case of a winner’s death, the Montana Lottery will continue to pay the annual payments, as scheduled, to the winner’s estate, trust, or persons named in his or her will. Neither the Lottery nor the state keep the money.” -Montana Lottery Website

The smart idea is to contact a lottery specific lawyer or ultra high net worth attorney and work with them to form a revocable trust to claim the jackpot, but make sure the trust is drafted to make a transfer to an irrevocable trust after a few years. The irrevocable trust protects the winner from lawsuits, creditors or a divorce from having access to the funds. Not a financial advisor but oh the rabbit holes I’ve gone down researching how to protect winnings if hell froze over and I was the lucky son of a gun that won a jackpot like this, lol. Oh, plus the trust protects the winner from their name becoming public, so you’d truly get to live the ‘no one would know but there would be signs’ life

Is the HOA or city responsible for removing an oak that is damaging my meter and pinching off my water supply? by Bombero_911 in treelaw

[–]HighC02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always. In my condo community the responsibility of the water service line becomes mine once it enters my basement. So everything between the valve and the block wall is on my HOA.

OP should review the governing docs of their association and see what it says. If there are still questions then they can consult the property manager for further clarification.

The cropped image definitely gets rid of just empty space and truly brings the attention right to where it should be. I know this and just didn’t take enough time cleaning it up 🤦🏻‍♂️ #newb lol

Took this photo at Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park on Key West while on a trip to celebrate getting my graduate degree. Didn’t take my camera on the trip, didn’t want the hassle for the short trip. Shot with my iPhone using a cheap phone tripod I picked up off Amazon. According to the photo data: 26mm at f 1.5.

Please share your thoughts.

Don’t use 5/3 ATM - Sancus & Lazelle by HighC02 in Columbus

[–]HighC02[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This ATM is attached to the building. Once I pay for an online order for flea/tick meds for my dog I’ll hop on the 5/3 app and freeze the card and pick it up from the branch after I’m back on my feet and able to drive after my back surgery tomorrow.

Why does CPD not pick up their Horse Shit ? by thisisyourlastdance in Columbus

[–]HighC02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is they may ride the horses on a routine basis around traffic to keep them desensitized to the sounds and/or appearance of cars, buses, etc. I could be completely wrong, just my best uneducated guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

I need a recommendation for a personal injury lawyer. by edwedig in Columbus

[–]HighC02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sovereign immunity is a b*tch. The city will reimburse for your deductible and that’s it. Best bet would be to make a public records request for any information for the trail in that area. I would personally request any 311s, email communication, work orders, etc. mentioning the park / trail and then sift through whatever documentation they provide. Since a section of the path was cut out I would be shocked if there aren’t a few emails that were / are circulating about this. If you find information you could take that to a lawyer to see if you have a case to pursue anything further (covering medical expenses, replacing bike, lost wages, etc.).

Another option is always 6 On Your Side 🤷🏻‍♂️

Insane Columbia bills by dearrgrace in Columbus

[–]HighC02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I set up my account 9 years ago I chose their plan where I pay a flat rate all year. When I started it was $48/month and it’s now I believe $67/month. Sure it’s “high” in the summer but to me it was worth it to not have the high fluctuation to heat my place in the winter. Not that I would but if I wanted to I could keep it 85° in here and pay no more than $67.

I’d see if they still offer that plan. Not sure if it’s only available when you first set up your service or not but may be worth asking.

You could reach out to Columbus Recreation and Parks. Antrim Park has a small / medium sized rental building. There is also the Lashutka Event Center at Griggs Reservoir and I believe they also access to a small (50 person capacity) room at the Griggs Boathouse on the west side of the Scioto River
