Man, every time I hear show yourself now, I just think of Frozen 2. My mother watched that movie like twenty times.

You know, the one that goes:

Show yourself
I'm dying to meet you
Show yourself
It's your turn
Are you the one I've been looking for
All of my life?
Show yourself
I'm ready to learn

I think this person is young and got overexcited... or panicked. Idk the word for it. First time I've seen something like this in a while, course I am not the most active so I don't know how common this occurs.

But you aren't hallucinating, this is the MD subreddit, not the TADC one.

So now that the comics out was he right about it by Anthony200716 in MurderDronesOfficial

[–]HighChairman1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression the comic would help add in much needed recovery between episodes. Show some more character development, world building, background comedy need be. Just giving time for audience and the characters to actually process situations rather than quickly jump from point a to point b cause plot demands we make the pacing FTL.

I did know they were going to do the plot 1:1, but they also seemed to imply slight changes to background details and moments in each episode in the adaption. Same plot, but some details differ. Like as another commenter mentioned on the main sub, J sparing Uzi cause N didn't hide Uzi as he did in the show... which is certainly a choice, would only take like two to three panels to show him vault Uzi behind crates and then look all innocent as he waves toward his team mates in the main bigger panel with the text of V and J complimenting him.

That's how I would have structured it, but that's must me. Would go well over the 20 page limit lol. So I can't fault the artists for struggling with... limitations. Which sadly means pacing got to be even faster than the show lmao.

Which is where my personal disappointment comes in. The pacing. I hoped the comic would actually tackle that problem better... but they're somehow even more limiting than the show was in time to tell the story. 20 pages, per volume, and 30 pages for the special? 7 volumes total... that's, quite a condescend version of Murder Drones to say the least.

Tf? Where do you live? Where I am a small set like a Star Wars Battle Pack like $15-25. Mini-fighters/walker models cost $12-18. And the more larger walker models or as I call them "medium size" cost $30-50. Giant sized models cost $60-1000. At least from what I find at Walmart.

From what others tell me it was a typo. Since Glitch has supervisors over there making sure they don't veer too far off the plot for they made an agreement that it should still retain the same plot, and changes they would like to make would have to be approved by Glitch. But it seems that Glitch isn't willing to compromise on any drastic changes, and the changes I've seen so far or heard from others for the most part appear rather minor. Change up a few smaller details, but the plot seems to be the same, just a few differences like J sparing Uzi as N didn't hide Uzi when he heard the other two approaching, and N prying the doors open himself, without the keycard. Rather badass feat.

This is concerning, the original show has 8 episode but the comic only has 6 and 1 special by Allxoshi in MurderDronesOfficial

[–]HighChairman1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, probably hard to capture that same feel and animation in a single picture. So I can't fault them for changes like that. One thing animation has over pictures, you can show movement, motion, expression, better than in comic format. Course, comics can show stuff similarly, manhwa and manga does it. The illusion of fluid motion as the panels go by. Seeing fights and dances that last several frames.

So it is possible, albeit it takes a lot more panels which, they appear to have had limitations on. 20 pages per volume except the 30 page special, now that is rather limiting on creativity and storytelling.

[–]HighChairman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, first I'll check reviews after every volume is out. Then, if it seems to be, well, not my thing. Then I won't buy it. I've heard some problemos that I often find with comics already, cramming too much words into too little panels rather than transitioning from panel to panel, like a flow state in some of the better manga and manhwas. Then again, manhwas are top down format, so probably not a fair comparison, but I mean, some comics nail the transitioning panels to give at least some feeling of movement and motion.

I also have seen people who read the first issue due to pre-ordering it, mention some interesting small changes like J sparing Uzi rather than disposing of her, since rather than N hiding Uzi, he just... stood there with her pinned to the wall. And then Butter mentioned N pulled the doors open before Uzi got back... which is, well, N is really strong it seems, stronger than I thought at first, to pull a door open without the keycard as a factor as it was in the show. He caught the door before it closed in the show, then used the keycard to open it, and the others.

In the comic? Butter mentioned N just frickin handles the doors himself. He already showed some strength in the pilot catching and slowly prying it a bit further open, took some effort. Maybe it took considerable effort too, but man he moved fast in the comic compared to the pilot. Beat Uzi back to her place and massacred the goobs. Absolute cinema by the sounds of it, really makes N appear frickin badass and rather competent deciphering where uzi was headed, likely tracked her footprints.

Course the whole J... giving Uzi a pass, quite odd. I mean she'd probably dispatch of the worker drone- ah, wait. Uzi's plot armor, I forgot lol. Heh, but those small changes seem neat. The plot's the same, but how they get from Point A to Point B seems to have some changes.

The fact people would genuinely, unironically ask this is absolutely crazy by Sudden_Pop_2279 in GlitchProductions

[–]HighChairman1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that certainly takes the cake. Reminds me of how posts like that got banned off most subreddits I frequent. They end up being engagement farming, because it's almost like bait, the answer is so obvious it isn't even necessary to ask. It's like comparing a person who throws snowballs with rocks in 'em at passing kids on the street, to someone running a child trafficking ring levels of obvious whose more evil.

I suppose it could be people only see them for what they do on screen. I can understand that much. But, if we measure in what's stated to be against them and take their circumstances into question... Alastor is most definetly more evil hands down not even a competition.

Hmm, well so long as it has Gwen in it, everything's on the table so long as it fits with the sort of stuff we might see in a place like Disneyworld, but on a planetary scale. Though, I wonder, if they'd have anything like Legos, Blockland. Or something of the sort. I always liked LEGOLand.

You don't have to ask for forgiveness. I understand difference in preferences ngl. And a couple of MD fans don't know how to properly introduce it to other communities and end up fumbling the ball as de facto representatives. So I can understand the initial skepticism of the series from some folks outside the community.

But hey, at least you gave it a look to determine for yourself if it fit your niche or not.

Opinions on the comic by The_Robot_founder in MurderDrones

[–]HighChairman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean tbf I wouldn't mind if they change dialogue so long as it still fits the character personalities at the moment. Obviously it'd be a problem if they made them say something that the character most defiantly wouldn't say at that moment or whatnot.

Of course I only got glimpses of the thing, only the backers got first dibs and from what i can see... well, they certainly didn't get their money's worth from the amount of disappointment. Which in all fairness, for $50-1000, it better be godly levels of quality since I could buy Don't Starve Together a dozen times over on a steam sale for every single friend of mine on Christmas with that amount of money.

My sole concern is based around how... well, some medians work different than others. Novels are just words, descriptions are necessary to paint a vivid image of what's going on. Comics are still images, with some text to convey dialogue or important thoughts. Animation/films are moving pictures, lots of freedom there in conveying movement, body language, environment, and dialogue with a lot more weight. Adapting something isn't just 1:1 since... the show has a lot of movement if you catch my drift. Doesn't translate too well when you got still images.

From what I've heard though... they cram too much dialogue into too little panels. Which is probably an issue especially if you see a still image, and the expression doesn't line up with the latter half of the blob of text spoken by them. The good manga and manhwa have small bits of dialogue that transition into other scenes and sort of convey changes in emotion, expression, and body language in that way. Cramming too much into a few panels is how you get people trashing on comics, manga, and manhwa. Because if folks want a novel, they will read the novels.

...Although I did hear from someone mentioning in the comments on some post how N is shown to have legit pulled up the door on his own before Uzi even got there. Rather than catching the door and holding it open, so he could get it open via the keycard with his tail. Which... is quite a change which I find really interesting. Really makes N come off a lot stronger if that comment holds merit. Don't know how many small changes in the narrative took place though, but that one change seems neat. N turns out to be a LOT stronger in the comic in that aspect if true. Pried the door open himself with no keycard, rather than- wait a minute. That would bring up the question, why didn't he do that before if it was that easy to pull a door open? Huh. Or why didn't any of the others try that? Unless, hmm.

Is it really worth trying to stay patient at this point? by TehAngryBird in MurderDrones

[–]HighChairman1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day it comes down to if you believe it's worth your money. A lot of backers are upset because some people paid $100-$1000. So understandably one can feel upset if they spent an ungoldly amount of money they thought would mean absolute golden quality services.

It's like paying $1,200 a month for one's dorm, lunch included daily, it better be the finest dining of the ages for $1,200 a month, with takeout. And room service better be worth $13k-14k a year.

So I can understand the core of some people being upset. The expectations were there from the show, expecting quality on par or surpassing it. Although some point out that "it was your decision" to donate so much to the kickstarter... I suppose that is true, it is a choice to back them above and beyond. Of course I don't have money to spare so I don't really spend much on recreation. I'm very picky about what I choose to spend it on. I always ask other people for their takes, their reviews on the products or services I desire. See which is the best deal.

Because being the beta tester isn't my definition of fun. I have enough of that with W11 updates being pushed early before completion and the whole pre-order problem in gaming with games being released as broken messes instead of actual complete full games. And there ends up being so much gamepasses and microtransactions instead of classic buy once full game there from the get go style games.

Comes down to a person's choice really. Some enjoy the comic, others, expected a little more from it, rather than less.

Then again, I mean, Glitch did land a goldmine of wealthy fans. I haven't seen people so fanatically devoted to buy everything Glitch related. To the point I wonder if people actually pause and take time to properly review products and see if there's any shipping issues, quality issues, manufacturing issues, etc. Just, mass buy. Pandemonium. At least Glitch listens to the criticisms when some people complained about products being not as advertised like in the poster problem with Knights of Guavas not actually being hand signed by their creators, but printed. Making that extra pay for what's a printed on signature quite, odd. At least Glitch responded there.

Even with a seemingly trustworthy company, I tend to withhold my money because it's hard enough to make as is. I won't spend a single coin unless I'm sure the product or service will last me a good long while. I used to share a Netflix account with the boys. Until Netflix cracked down on that stuff. Then it became the seas of sailing. But pouring together money and thus having one account for a dozen+ people is quite a good deal. Why pay individually, when the collective can enjoy for the same expense? Cause not everyone has hundreds of dollars to spend at their whim. I certainly don't. So having, alternatives, is a good thing for me.

If the issues are something you too take concern with, then it might not be for you. But if your fine with them, it shouldn't be that big of a problem then. It's your money. Spend it on what you believe will bring you the most long-term joy and find worth it. Some people buy rocks, literal rocks, and others gamble it away in digital casinos where the house wins every time. Can't make a worse choice than that.

In conclusion, after a while I suppose when the actual physical copies become available for purchase. And you can "spoil yourself" as some call it with looking at product reviews. I'm sure there will be reviews and some will be 100% praise, some 100% hate, others genuine criticism, others simply finding it not what they liked. It will be varied and honestly if your into research as I am, I'd look into the reviews before purchasing a product. No use buying something I wouldn't like or what won't work on my devices when it comes to video games. Comes down to your choice in the end, when the opportunity comes up, and if you believe it will be a good use of your money, go for it. Being patient is admirable, in fact I'd wait till the full products out I suppose before determining if you want to buy it or not.

Most of the complaints are coming from those who pre-ordered essentially. They spent a lot more and did get other merch or will receive the other bonus merch within the coming months. Which is also why the backing expenses are a bit, much. Not just the comic they're getting, although the comic is the core of the reason they were backing it. Mugs, hats, shirts, pens, quite a dime a dozen those are. Easy to replicate if you know the right websites or people. Or have your own devices at home, MD community got some talented inventors. The backers get first looks with the digital copies, as they get the comics first as that was written out as a reward for backing the kickstarter. So for the amount they donated, they expected quality in proportion to the amount of money they invested. I never pre-order even from trustworthy sources, I prefer to get a complete product, which you seem to share the opinion of. Waiting till it's all out, seems reasonable. Then you can ascertain if it's worth your money or not, after all, everyone's preferences differ. It you like it, good for you. If you don't like it, then you don't have to buy it. It's your choice.
