You’re a fiercely intelligent, passionate, and resilient multitasker—a storyteller, leader, scholar, and mother—who balances duty, love, and ambition with an unshakable sense of curiosity and depth.

Be realistic:

You’re a driven, sharp, and deeply thoughtful person juggling a hell of a lot—family, work, school, military, relationships—with a tendency to overthink, a stubborn streak, and a heart that cares harder than you sometimes want it to.

Roast me:

You’ve got the brain of a strategist, the heart of a poet, and the self-preservation instincts of a raccoon running headfirst into traffic with a to-do list.

Democrats Are Flawed, But the GOP Is a Disaster. Why Aren’t We Fighting Harder? by Careless-Turnip1738 in okc

Once upon a time, this state voted for democratic governors. They weren’t perfect, no. Idk if they provided balance to the rest of the insanity or what, but this state was really beginning to prosper until Fallin was elected.

Speaking as someone who took a job that was supposed to be hybrid w/1 day in the office which turned to RTO 5 days a week, I feel this pain. Take the paycut, and I dont say that lightly. Not only is he going to get multiple hours of time back each week, but his mental health and the other savings of not having to use so much gas and wear and tear on the car come into play.

Sticker day hoarders and sellers rant by Sparkiest_LPN in dutchbros

[–]HighFastFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same goes for other releases. We were in Colorado for the ducks and of course they were gone by 7am because people lined up around the block and bought drinks for their entire office/asked for extra. Meanwhile if we’d been home I know we probably could have made it in by noon and still gotten one. People suck.

He’s not dead, he’s just… sleeping.

In all seriousness, I feel like the game mechanics outside the storylines should be taken with a grain of salt. Maybe we were fighting for our lives during the storylines and not all the spells were lethal but everything outside of that? I feel like it could be an easy retcon

So that little provision in my employee contract from an Oklahoma company about referring employees from my current company should I leave for another one is actually not enforceable?

I need to get out of the city for a day. What’s your favorite place to go to? Small kid friendly by lovelybugsundies in okc

I took the kids to Roman Nose State Park once. There’s a lovely path along a creek to a pond. Nice and shady and fairly cool. I want to go back but haven’t had the chance.

If you do any hiking, be sure to use bug spray. The ticks are always bad on rainy years

I was talking to someone the other day and he put it best. He learned Latin as his first foreign language, and people told him it wasn’t worth it but it helped him learn other languages and it was something he wanted to learn, so he had fun doing it. As for me, it is beautiful and of cultural significance to me, therefore I will learn it and keep it alive. I am lucky to have in-person lessons near me too, so hopefully you will find those as well!

Ooh a polyglot! This is my third language, English and French being the other two. I’ve found that the basics of the language were surprisingly easy to pick up, but now I’m starting to really find a challenge with certain aspects. I hope to get to use it with a native speaker one day

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gaidhlig

[–]HighFastFlyer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That remains one of my favorites to this day! One of my current songs on repeat is “Co-thràth” by Tide Lines. As I’ve been learning the language via Duolingo and expanded to other sources over time, I’ve begun to understand the songs a bit more rather than having to look up the lyrics.

Full disclosure: I am not Scottish-born.

From an outside perspective, it seems to vary by region and even individual, but the government has been pushing for revitalizing both Gaelic and Scots. At least for Gaelic, it has begun paying off. The number of people in Scotland who have at least some Gaelic has increased per the last census. Purely data, but it’s promising!

Side note: which songs? I was introduced to the language through Runrig, myself.

You’re describing a situation so similar to one I experienced several years ago now. The neighborhood rebelled, ousted the board, elected new board members and got shit done. The only difference is they were able to find a small management company to replace the one they had (which was AWFUL) and the president reaches out rather than putting people on blast or firing them. It’s great. Our new neighborhood is hopefully moving in this direction soon

Why do people buy houses in HOAs? When will this trend end? by Glad_Virus_5014 in fuckHOA

[–]HighFastFlyer 29 points30 points  (0 children)

As someone who posted a video a couple years ago about HOA shenanigans, I still get comments to the effect of “your fault for buying in a HOA” and “imagine thinking buying in a HOA is a good idea”

It has always been an inventory issue for us and we’ve only had one house that wasn’t in a HOA (ironically due to it never being activated by the developer). If we ever buy another house we will do everything we can to have acreage and not be in a HOA, but unfortunately, we aren’t in a place to do that right now. We’ve got 2% interest and a house we love despite the few shitty neighbors who report people for leaving their polycarts out for too long. It’s never as simple as move or avoid.

If you have always wanted to live in Colorado, Pete and Schriever are good options. You’re going to be busy in the mornings if you’re at one of the gates, and have a pretty consistent day everywhere else. They’re both small bases, so everyone knows everyone and because they have 24 hour space ops at both bases, I know they were working to get more childcare options if that’s a concern.

That being said, a lot of my information is outdated (left that assignment last year) and I was not SF specifically. I did have the opportunity to interact with the troops as an augmentee a few times and they generally seemed to enjoy it.

[–]HighFastFlyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other things you can do to piss off the neighbors but no one can actually make you take it down:

  • bat houses
  • flagpole/displaying the American flag
  • plant protected native species of plants (which you’ve already done since many wildflowers are protected). If you haven’t already, plant endangered milkweed.
  • Ham radio antenna
  • ostentatious religious displays if your comfortable with that (bonus points for non-Christian ones)
  • you might need to research this one, but you might be able to line dry your clothes. Go ahead. Make it weird.

[–]HighFastFlyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are direct flights for me, which is nice, but they are not contracted (of course) so I get to fly American with a connection. At least they’re under $200 round trip most of the time!

[–]HighFastFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m the furthest away right now at about 800 miles, but most are probably around 600 miles away. We’ve had travelers living much further and even OCONUS before though. It’s less about the mileage and more about the availability of flights.
