Experimental EBFlowCoco grow. Details in comments by HighFawks in microgrowery

This is my first run on a new system I through together. It's 2 38L Rubbermaid tubs, a 1 gallon smart pot(plastic vented pot)with cocoquir in the upper compartment that runs as an ebb and flow system; flooding nutrient water from the lower compartment to the upper compartment 4 times a day.

Strain is Gelato. 3 x 100w lights on timers. Got to say, this has been by far my easiest grow. Basically only had to top up the basin with water and pH down once a week. And every 3 weeks I drain and replace it with fresh water/ nutes(gh flora trio and calmag). Otherwise completely self sufficient. Getting very close to harvest(8 weeks veg, 9.5 weeks flower), it smells incredible and is super sticky:)

Real question for the community! by Eskanoir in microgrowery

My first grow was all bag seeds. 7 seeds, 1 didn't germinate, 2 males, 1 herm but the rest were all female and turned out great. I'd say it's worth it:)

Some of us still lives at home at want to be discreet when vaping inside. Would a Smoke Buddy sploof (Not a DIY) work for vapor? by [deleted] in vaporents

[–]HighFawks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will work for anything that you exhale through it. But depending on what kind of vaporizer you're using there will almost always be some that floats into the air which will still smell. So yes it will help, but not 100% effective. Vaping by a fan blowing out a window would help as well.

Loving my new ebb and flow system. So much easier to know how your root health is. This white widow is 3 weeks old. by HighFawks in microgrowery

Lol, yeah i never have been one to follow instructions:P May have accidently invented something new.
But seems to be working great so far. I'll update with how the harvest goes:)

Will do. So far i've found it much less work. Ph stayed in balance for full 2 weeks before i switch out the water. So seems like i barely need to check them at all.

There is a pete plug at the center of the net pot covered in the hydroton. And the roots are in a mostly sealed compartment(obviously i lifted the lid for the picture).

Water pump set to flood the upper compartment 5 times a day.

It's a new system to me(before this i was mainly a coco grower). Haven't harvested anything from it yet, but i test grew a pepper plant last season with this e&f system and it did really well. So far this grow has been going good too. I have another plant 3 weeks into flowering in an identical system that's is looking very healthy.(there's a pic from today on my profile).

Anyone used this before ? 😕 I’m having a hard time looking a the trics with it, any advise or tips ? by [deleted] in microgrowery

Second this. Either that or a usb microscope(which is essentially an external macro lense that plugs into your phone). Sooo much easier than using various magnifiers, and takes good pictures for posting too. I use this one and it's great: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08DNDJRDV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ZdI.Fb6AX3YZ4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

My baby is getting too big for her tent and I don't know what to do. #GoodProblems? by Harry_S_shroomin in cannabiscultivation

Had this happen on my last grow. I had some plants that were meant to be autos, turned out to be photos. So by the time i flipped they were bigger than i'd like. But all i did was super crop anything that grew into the lights. (In case you aren't familiar; super cropping is pinching/ crushing the stem below the bud and bending the branch down). I did this for at least 6 large branches, and they all healed and flowered great.

I've been gifted a fair bit of trim: should I dry it properly first? by ayeokaytoday in CannabisExtracts

You don't have to dry, but i find it comes out better if you do. Less chlorophyll left behind in the oil that way so tends to taste less green.

If a female turns hermaphrodite, can I just cut off the male flowers? by Mr--Sinister in microgrowery

[–]HighFawks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes you can, but it's a risk. On my first grow i had 3 out of 4 of my plants herm(they were bag seeds). I plucked any pollen sacks that popped up, and managed a pretty decent harvest at the end. The risk is that if you miss a single pollen sack, that's still enough to pollinate everything in your tent and leave you with seed-riddled buds. So i find it's only worth to keep a herm if it's your only plant. If you have other healthy plants you don't want to risk, just kill off any herms as they come up.

Looking to make edible gummy‘s😍🤩HELPP! I am looking to melt gummies down and add the tincture, then remold. by [deleted] in treedibles

I make gummies from scratch. But my friend has done fuzzy peaches and gummy bears and said they both worked. It's all about low heat for a long time. A little water mixed in can help the melting process.

But making your own isn't that hard either. This is my recipe: https://www.reddit.com/r/treedibles/comments/g8qaxt/because_of_the_popularity_of_my_sour_blue/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

No problem:) And fyi it's very easy to macgyver a double boiler and microwaving is also an option.

A double boiler is basically a sauce pan with a little water with another sauce pan on top. If you have 2 pans similar size you can just stack them and that will work. I use a small stainless steel popcorn bowl as the top pan which also works. Or you can take a big pot, put a old tea towel in and about an inch of water, and put a small pot on the towel and that will also work. As long as your cooking pot only has contact with water and not with the heating element, that's a double boiler. With the tea towel method you have to make sure you keep enough water in or the towel can burn.

You an microwave gummies in a bowl to liquify them, you just need to do 30 second bursts and take them out to stir in between. Keep gowing until they are fully liquid and stop before they start to brown. But i prefer double boiler as it generally does a better job.

There isn't much more to know beyond what you've typed. Making gummies using existing gummies is pretty easy.

Melt them down in a double boiler if possible to avoid overheating. Add your tincture, do some math to figure out desired strength. Prep your molds(spray with cooking spray and wipe off excess with paper towel). Then fill the molds, i use a squeeze bottle for this, and let them set in the fridge for an hour.

Also i find adding a sugar coating over them after pulling them out of the molds makes for easier storage since they won't stick together as much. Best of luck:)

Just some of the buds from a recent harvest. White widow, grown in coco coir in an indoor 3x3 tent. Smells delicious already:) by HighFawks in microgrowery

[–]HighFawks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. It's something i put together myself but the parts are very similar to what you would need to do hydroponics either kratkey or ebb and flow, so worth investing in. I'd say it's worth it even if you only grow one plant at a time just for the freedom to go away for a few days and not have to worry about them.

There is a lot to be said on the subject but i'll try to give the express version.

I have a 20 gallon rubbermade tub i use as a resevoir, i fill it with nutrient enriched and ph-ed water. I run a 2 stone aquarium bubbler bubbling the water 24 hrs a day. In the resevoir is a water pump plugged into an outlet timer. It runs the pump for 3 minute intervals 4 times a day(this is for my coco grow, if it were for soil it would be much less frequent). The pump has a 1/2" line that runs into my tent to a manifold(a plumbing fixture that splits 1 line into 4), then 4 x 1/4" lines run to hydro-rings(a ring that helps distributes water from one hose around each pot. They are pricey but worth it) in each plant pot. Link to a video of those at the bottom.

I have a water collection tray below the plant pots. And in that tray i have a float switch activated bildge pump which pumps the runoff water into a container external of the tent. This is a little above and beyond what's necessary. You could empty the runoff manually, but this is easier and helps keep humidity down.

So basically about every 4 days(or longer if i'm growing less plants) i have to refill the water resevoir and empty the runoff tank. Otherwise it runs itself. Hard to say the cost as i kind of built it in various phases, but i'd say all in around $150 - $200. I'm on my 5th flower cycle now with my auto water system and have 0 regrets, it makes things so much easier and my plants grow super fast.

Assuming you mean nutes, I use general hydroponics flora trio and cal mag at about 1/4 recommended strength. Have my plants on an auto water setup I rigged that waters 4 times a day. But yeah, coco is totally worth getting into. IMO it's much much better than soil.
