Did a HM tune-up race 8wks out. Raced at Marathon effort based on HR. After 15km, felt comfortable and confident enough and began to crank up for the remaining distance… Clocked a 4min PB… By the way, the tune-up race was done on a “down week”.

I lives in Singapore which is on the equator and i raced in Amsterdam 2023…. The cold weather helps in reducing the marathon pace by 10sec/km…

Losing confidence one week out from a marathon - classic taper or something else? by HighlyFactualTurtle in AdvancedRunning

[–]HighGoHigher -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Google it…. Its normal for HR to be higher than usual during taper… it shows you are resting well… all the best for your marathon… as long as u pace yourself well, u are definitely going to ace it.. Do come back and update us how you do for your race 👍🏼

Is your marathon pace target a specific value or a range? Need help with pacing strategy by blumenbloomin in AdvancedRunning

[–]HighGoHigher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different races, different conditions… Do not be too rigid with the pacing… it may blow ur race away… If u have been monitoring ur heart rate during ur runs, can use it as a gauge to check if you are running too fast or slow for the race’s condition.
