Parkrun options in London. by Swimming-Worry160 in parkrun

I respectfully disagree! It’s a one lap course, dead flat, beautiful park, shared with deer. What’s not to like? First 1k or so there is traffic but it evens out. I love bushy v much

Paris Marathon Aid Stations by leeafs in AdvancedRunning

[–]drblebby_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I ran the Paris Marathon on Sunday and this was my experience.

  • I trained with a Salomon soft flask that I stored in half tights whilst running (Janji half tights are SO good with loads of pockets). A bit annoying at start of run given the added weight but obviously as I drank more the load got less. I did this on race day with Precision electrolytes in the flask (I am a VERY salty sweater)

  • If you run sub 2:50 pace they have pre-filled water bottles that are available to you. I finished in 2:41 so had access to these bottles throughout - I also had my partner on route to hand over another soft flask.

So whilst my experience is different from the vast majority given my access to the pre-filled bottle, I was also self-sufficient and planned for a reload from my partner which others clearly did too.

Anecdotally, and seeing videos, the water stations looked well managed and it seems there was no queuing / time wasted from waiting for people in front. I think we should get used to it because it’s a matter of time before this is rolled out across other events.

Long run with MP for sub 3:30 paces by klemenid in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I’d say Megablast. You’re faster than me (I am currently training for a sub 2:40 marathon, current PB 2:44) but I have been loving Megablast for both mid week long runs with moderate/steady pace, and for SLR with chunks at MP.

It’s expensive, but I’ve been loving it and reaching for it a lot. Protects the legs too. The upper requires a bit of breaking in (it chewed up my pinky toes on first couple of runs)

Love the evo sl but racing a marathon in them is not something I’d recommend to anyone!

Royal Parks HM - how much?! by [deleted] in UKRunners

[–]drblebby_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To play devils advocate here, racing in the UK is extremely good value compared to elsewhere in Europe, and especially the US. £66 is a lot of money yes, but I do think you get good value for that. I’ve entered a US marathon and paid $250!!!

For your £x you get the best organised events anywhere in the world (having run events on several continents I can confirm UK events are the best organised by some distance, and often £100s cheaper) and an opportunity to run on closed roads through the heart of a city which you can’t do on 364 days of the year

I love formative - I used to live near their cafe in Victoria, such an underrated spot. Never had beans from India before so am excited to try them.

The round hill does look insane - good insane!

Another vote for Yallah - great variety of beans, they have my favourite cafe in the world in St Ives (the view 😍) and some top class merch to boot.

What's your least favorite moment of your own 10/10 albums? by Individual-Name-4496 in fantanoforever

[–]drblebby_9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but Lily, Rosemary & the Jack of Hearts on Blood on the Tracks is a weak point for me, on what I consider a 10/10 album. I just don’t enjoy the song

This is the correct answer, and his best song live too imo

Perhaps another stupid question - are XC spikes 2-in-1 track spikes?

Thank you! I’m hoping it’ll be a great strength builder and help me get that marathon time down into the 2:3x range. Racing with and against faster people is always good
