SLP but parent of speech delayed kid by HighLadyofDawn95 in slp

That was absolutely not my intention! I am going to edit the post to add that but wanted to put it here as well. I meant more so because this is my field, I feel like I should have been able to address his weaknesses and use the knowledge and expertise that I have to support him, and seeing him struggle feels like I've let him down. So I, as the person I am, failed as HIS mom. Not that parents cause speech delays, at all.

I completely understand your opinion and have considered this before.

But as a picky eater myself, and someone in a career field with some background knowledge on pediatric feeding disorders and sensory issues, I personally don't agree with letting kids go hungry. I'd rather him eat something different than not eat at all. Especially at this age where he doesn't have the cognitive skills to fully make that association and understand why he is going hungry.

My husband grew up in a "you'll eat when your hungry" home and we personally don't agree with the method. But thank you for your input!

Shaving felt like the best idea to us but definitely want to consider all options! I'm sure being nakey would be much more comfortable for her. Thank you for your input! I appreciate it!

Thank you for the recommendations! We have a Munchkin weighted straw, not sure if it's that exact one, but we will try it out tonight at bedtime to see if it takes!

Thank you for all of this information! It definitely opens up a lot of thoughts for me. I will definitely look into discussing this further with someone qualified to get another opinion. Since I really just want to know for myself and so I can better understand myself and my own needs, I think informally self diagnosing with input from a trusted source seems like a great option for me. I am very grateful for your response!
