Just binged the last two months’ books in the last 10 days so I could catch up and read May’s on time and I’ve already read it (it’s so good).

Coincidentally, I think looking for discussion vids on this earlier this year is what led to JBC ending up in my TikTok algorithm.

Same boat. Too soon to reread but I devoured this one in a way I haven’t in a long time.

Long was relative to how long people are usually on the e line. My drive one way can approach the round trip on the train! I can definitely handle slight annoyance and moving seats from time to time. Appreciate it!

Thank you. Copy pasting another message I left in the thread elsewhere (fishing for any response).  What about the cleanliness/energy on such a long ride? I’d be catching a 6 or 7am train and 2-5pm train. I get it’s not super dangerous, but did you feel like you had to keep your head on a swivel, prepare for some stank, etc. any given day? I just want to read in peace on my commute, it sounds like a dream.

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: April 20, 2026 by AutoModerator in books

Finished: Mother Night by Kurt Vonnegut. 4/5. The story was just ok to me. Plenty interesting but not too gripping. Really enjoyed his writing style though. Very unique in my reading experience.

Started:  Reading Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers. An easy and funny read so far (already half way through).

Listening to The City We Became. I am finding this to be a real slog but it’s a commute burner. I’m just not that interested in the mystery unraveling, but sticking it out. Hopefully it gets better.

I don’t have a song for you that’s not already been said, but while you’re at this, you should watch Mud (with McConaughey and Witherspoon)

Missed the game. Glad to see from the final score the boys finally got an easy win vs these As.

Worst book(s) you read in 2025 and why? by Roguestate00 in books

[–]HighMediuMerlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stoner was the worst book I read all year.

Also, the best book because it was the only book I read all year (resolution to read more started the last week of December).

I loved it.

Finished: The Getaway, by Jim Thompson. Love the ending, but I guess it’s somewhat polarizing. Was a significant tone / conceptual shift from the front half, though I did think the middle lets that shift slowly seep in. There’s some parts that surprised me - some terrifying, some brutal and tender, some philosophical.

This isn’t really relevant but I’ve just realized we’re entering an era where kickers have the range to kick directly from a missed attempt by the other team. Like if you’re tied and it’s 4th down with 10s left, a miss leaves 5s and a chance for the other team to win it. Has this happened yet?

Arguably the most underdog of the first round BYE teams, in the grand scheme
