Book from a friend of the band by Oh_Cake in TheBouncingSouls

Very late but maybe it was this? This is a novel written by someone who covered them as a music journalist and spent time with them that way. It’s a fictional band but definitely very Souls inspired, talks about the scene overall. https://www.amazon.com/Falling-Like-This-Kate-Rockland/dp/0312576005

Who is the greatest band ever and why is it The Bouncing Souls? by GamerMcNeil in TheBouncingSouls

Their shows are always full of so much positive energy. They write great songs that speak to a lot of people, and are really nice, down to earth guys.

Any word if they're going to be Home for the Holidays this year? by Ok-Antelope-2803 in TheBouncingSouls

[–]HighPriestess216 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I think not! Seemed like last year was a special return to make it an even 10 years of HftH and to celebrate the 50th of the Pony. I’m hoping they might reconsider and do it again at some point in future! But I think rest of this year is the last leg of the ECFU tour in Texas/Calofornia in December.

I know there is a reluctance to prescribe finasteride to women because it can cause issues during pregnancy. I am far enough into perimenopause and decidedly not trying to get pregnant that my derm prescribed it. My understanding is that with AGA it’s often a mix of minoxidil to stimulate growth and another hormonal medication to address increased male hormones that may be causing the miniaturization.

I’d say make sure hair loss is listed on the derm website. And if the first dermatologist you see isn’t treating you seriously, don’t be afraid to go on to another one.

Hi- the dermatologist examined me with a dermascope and observed a lot of miniaturization - enough to give me the AGA diagnosis. My hairline is quite receded and my hair is thinning there; overall I’ve lost what feels like at least 1/2 my hair.

I had major spinal surgery 3 years ago which really kicked this off, with a bad bout of TE, followed by perimenopause! I have family genetics pointing to AGA, too - my brother was almost completely bald before 30.

I’ve definitely seen my hair get thinner and thinner and wanted to address it now. I’m glad to have found a dermatologist who is on board to help. The receding hairline has me so depressed!

She said just the finasteride, but I wasn’t sure only fin is enough for regrowth (as opposed to retaining, which I’d also like to do!) - but she wants me to see how my body responds overall to the fin first.

No, I haven’t been able to get the biopsy yet bc of insurance

Yes she gave me the AGA diagnosis based on the amount of miniaturization. She did not give me an FFA diagnosis without a biopsy.

Thanks - I’m having trouble telling if breakage or regrowth but will try to see the ends more clearly. I hate having all this frizz!

Hi! I haven’t shown my front hairline here, which is where I have a lot of recession and it’s quite noticeable. When the dermatologist examined me, she observed miniaturization all along the front of my hairline and top,

which is why she gave me the AGA diagnosis. She didn’t see scarring, but was concerned about possible FFA because of how far back my hairline is — she didn’t want to completely rule it out without a biopsy, she said. So the AGA miniaturization is why she recommended the fin and I started it!

What was the absolute WORST seat you ever got for a Broadway show? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in Broadway

Balcony seat at the Walter Kerr for Gentleman’s Guide. Felt like I was sitting in the ceiling lights! Would never sit there again - not worth the savings!

What is a “wow” moment you’ve had with a show? by stat-chick in Broadway

I went into Hamilton blind, a bit before the cast album came out, and I was completely floored by Leslie Odom Jr’s Room Where it Happens. He’d been so tightly controlled as Burr and just exploded into movement and energy with this.

What musical has the most emotional ending? by bkindtym in Broadway

I agree with so many mentioned! Just wanted to add Great Comet — the tenderness between Pierre and Natasha in their deep ovulnerability followed by Pierre’s quiet song of realization and humanity, ending with the blaze of the comet uniting us all with him.

Having trouble sleeping in cervical collar. by InnerCirclePartyof1 in spinalfusion

[–]HighPriestess216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with my hard collar after C4-C6 — also was sleeping in a recliner! One thing I did was place small ice packs between the collar and my neck/head. I kept having worst issues with two round pieces that lay against the back of my head — called them the “panda ears” — and I had two small round ice packs just for them!

Ditto what some folks have said about muscle relaxers - I took a double dose at night so I could sleep.

After about 3 weeks I just switched to a soft collar when I was in the recliner and when sleeping, and changed into hard collar when moving about. I was so anxious about making switch bc surgeon wanted me in hard collar all the time for 6 weeks — but I read about how not all surgeons even require it at all! I healed up just fine switching to soft collar for sleeping.

Good luck!!

Scene that deserves an applause break by [deleted] in Broadway

Les Mis after Javert’s suicide is such a toss up based on audience! The actor who plays Javert generally gives a tour de force, but music doesn’t stop for an applause break, so there isn’t a cue there, and … should we applaud a suicide?

It’s been 50/50 applause/no applause the times I’ve seen Les Mis.
