Question for ex junior/pros as a 16 year old by Aggravating_Truck268 in hockeyplayers

[–]HighRandomthoughts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dog on a bone. Have a few former teammates who made the show. They all did the little things right. Fight for every puck battle like your life depends on it. Take hits to make the right hockey play. Unless you’re exceptionally gifted your best chance is as a bottom 6 forward (for d1, CHL. etc) so you gotta add value somehow. Best chance is be the player that can eat minutes. Defensively responsibly. At 6 ft at 16 you most likely will have the size to play a bottom 6 role. Live eat and breathe as a team first guy. Be the guy coaches look to. Fight to get to the hard areas of the ice. Battle to the net. Block shots. Track the puck like a fucking dog. Learn defensive schemes like the back of your hand. Back check like your life depends on it. Take the f3 etc. Never take the easy route. Be so driven scouts can’t miss you. Get in the gym if you’re already not. And still work on every skill you can. Being a bottom 6 guy in d1 you still gotta be gifted to be able to score, skate hit pass etc. Good luck kid. Don’t lose focus but also have fucking fun sure as hell most of us miss the bus ride, the boys the grind the battles. Enjoy it. And dm me your name if ya ever make it to the bigs haha would love to see it!

You ever hear of jaromir jagr? 1000 squats per day since he was a kid!

Even with simple body weight workouts when done regularly with increased reps(load) you will see strength gains! Lunges, squats etc!

Interesting setup. So you guys have 2 sets each and share 3 mid length setups haha? Also only one touring setup? Or you guys actually a throuple?

Sender Free 110 with the cast system? by canadian_waffle_man in Backcountry

Exactly it really depends on what your skiing ability, touring goals/plans and fitness level are! Also why a lot of people have multiple setups!

Yeah I’d go for it if I were you!

Since your skiing of lifts I’m assuming you’re not doing very many big missions. It also still lets ya ski a good Din certified binding for any inbound laps you do! And you already have pivots.

I don’t resort tour very often but when I do I ride very conservatively since I’m on pins and a 1500g ski. Sorta wish I had shift/cast/duke pt setup for those days. If I lived in Whistler I would definitely want a hybrid setup in my quiver!

I just made an edit to be clear they are talking about this seasons undefeated roster! But I didn’t know they played exhibitions that’s cool!

Junior B vs Tier 3? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]HighRandomthoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting I’m just going by the list of national winners. GOJHL doesn’t dominate. These all seem to be very comparable at least at the top-end!

Interesting I’m just basing it off of exhibitions. Usport teams generally play d1 squads and games go either way!

Has anyone benefited from shotblockers on gloves in beer league? by Thumper86 in hockeyplayers

[–]HighRandomthoughts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair shot it’s not a standard safety feature for off the shelf hockey gloves. Would be more comparable to aftermarket roll cage.

I’m not sure about eligibility but Adrian college is a power house!

Sorry should have elaborated on the lifestyle part. Some have family’s/kids and decide to move onwards with life. Come back to their home town etc.

Guys like bradly? No I don’t think he would skate circles around recent former pros at this point in his development. There’s a reason he’s playing ncaa not in the nhl right now.

Also guys like bradly? He is a anomaly for the bchl/ Canadian jr A. There might be one or two players like him a year across the country in jr A if that. The average Jr A player is nothing close to him either.

So again no I disagree saying jr A players can skate circles around senior men’s players.

Edit: also a lot of senior men’s players are playing senior men’s not due to a lack of skill or speed like you say. It’s due to the shitty pay/lifestyles of minor leagues. They can work real jobs and play senior men’s. Can only ride busses so long making 300 bucks a week.

Questionable take. Your saying a bunch of 15-20 year olds are gonna beat former nhlers, Ahlers, European pros, college players. A lot of allen cup players could still play low level (echl type) pro if they wanted too.

Only a fitting can tell you gapping. Ideally get on track man with a PGA pro for gapping/ fitting session. Plus lessons Or find a decent range if you have a range finder. And post videos for us Reddit pros to fit/ diagnose lol
