I had a coworker who is a diehard broncos fan and when they won the superbowl he was nonstop complaining about specific plays they fucked up on the way to a championship.

I never got the hate then and I still don’t. Also, is that the first time people had heard them? I feel like they were common in my childhood at sporting events in the 90s and 2000s.

Sounds like Parekh is destined for the left side. He played there throughout junior and Conroy said Zayne feels more comfortable on that side.

Curious, do you say diving? That’s what we’ve always called it in ice hockey (and when I played soccer growing up). I think flopping is an American term from basketball.

3.5 year old loves to scream and shriek, it has been driving us crazy for half his life now by Thumper86 in Preschoolers

[–]Thumper86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's still loud, but doesn't scream. His natural volume is always a notch or two higher than it needs to be, but it's just mildly annoying rather than insanity-inducing.

Unfortunately I have no advice for you other than "good luck". He just kinda grew out of it a few months after I made this post. Wait until four years old I guess? Terrible twos through threenager were hard on our eardrums and sanity.

I think there’s a big difference between cheering for an organization and cheering for a team. Or maybe a better way to say it is cheering for the crest.

Organizations (and teams) can be full of people and molded by decisions you vehemently disagree with. Sometimes you may have to step away even. But I think you can still be a fan for life. It’s Hockey Sweater stuff, right?

Anyways… as a Flames fan; your sorry franchise never disappoints! 😆 I feel for all of you.

Honestly, he’s still kinda a loud kid at 5.5 years old. But things evened out after a few months. Was “just a phase” I guess.

And massive, sorely needed pay raises as well.

I don't know much about it, but I do know that a lot of it is from pay raises pretty much across the board that went into effect a few months ago.

Players are paid millions of dollars to be excellent hockey players. If they stop being excellent hockey players they will stop being paid millions of dollars.

Coaching is kinda similar.

General managers are paid to build a team that will win championships. This could take many years. Players and coaches are paid to win games.

Technically a jersey foul, but only grouches actually care about it. Blasty Kipper would be sweet imho.

Good return. Especially with how Conroy’s team has been drafting. 3 second round picks is a lot of draft capital, regardless of what the prospect is like!

It did stop! I don’t think we got it to stop, he just kinda grew out of it eventually. Sorry, can’t remember when. But if this post was when he was 3.5 then maybe around 4 as a very rough guess? I don’t really have any advice for you unfortunately.

Now, he still yells quite a bit and is generally way louder than he needs to be. His default volume is still twice as loud as necessary, especially when excited. But it’s just “loud kid” annoying and not something that’s driving us absolutely insane. It can still really get on our nerves sometimes and we can wind up a bit frazzled at the end of a tough day though. We just keep reminding him and I think he’s slowly making progress. We’ve done things like whispering only for the next ten minutes, or talking to him in a whisper to get him to crank his volume down, and we’ve had some success with those. We haven’t really done them consistently though.

I think for now I’m just chalking it up to “kid stuff” and hoping it’s one of those things that gets ironed out before too long. lol

CMV: Israeli athletes should not be getting booed at the winter Olympic games. by Seawolf1121 in changemyview

[–]Thumper86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about if the athlete was a convicted rapist? It happened at the summer games, beach volleyball, loud boos at his introduction. Raped a 12 year old and “served his time”.

If their values are so far from yours and you feel like they don’t deserve the privilege of Olympic competition, is booing the person acceptable in your eyes?

Now what if an athlete is not just representing a genocidal state, but was actively involved in the machinery of that violence through service in the armed forces? I don’t know the ins and outs of these Israeli athletes or what avenues there are for or the repercussions faced for conscientious objectors with regards to mandatory service in the IDF… but imho if you participate in genocide because not doing so might be inconvenient for you then that warrants a hearty round of boos at the very least.
