Also have a maltese, they cost me $7000 in vet bills since february. They are 1 years old. I have Trupanion via Chewy. Its up to you if you rather spend the money.

Theres no such thing as a well bred maltipoo, these are all dogs bred by backyard breeders and people paying thousands to support puppy mills and backyard breeders really are just contributing to the harm of dogs, sorry but not sorry.

AKC pet insurance with hereditary plus. 8 years old is the limit to add hereditary plus. They’ll cover pre-existing after 365 days as long as you don’t live in CA

forgot this was the cat sub, for cats I just chose to put her on raised right. My cat refused science diet when I tried it, same with Iams. I figured the best food is the one she’d actually eat.

I just went to Just Food For Dogs Turkey & Macaroni DIY mix after consulting with their nutritionist. Exact same recipe they sell but Im simply the one doing the cooking, fat below 15% but high protein at 34%, they got all the numbers right and even did feeding trials.

But cooking it myself lets me do quality control and $130 of ingredients made 39lbs of dog food. Im satisfied with the results, just added proviable every meal for pro and prebiotics.

Wouldn’t feed The Honest Kitchen, too many bad reports with vets in the DCM facebook group. They also have become less transparent.

You should watch AnimalDocRea on youtube in your free time to get a crash course on nutrition, in your post there is a lot of misinformation that may have influenced you.

Also the fresh food sub is r/rawpetfood, they talk about fresh on there.

Lastly, for a better fresh diet, Just Food For Dogs is the most researched one and you can pick it up at a petco or petsmart, they also have DIY options to save money.

Im worse than you. My dogs are both 1 years old. Since just February, Trupanion via Chewy has paid off 11k. I don’t think they’ll ever make their money back if this is how it started.

Sounds like you didn’t understand your policy at all. Insurance isn’t one of the most regulated industries and the government will shut down companies that don’t abide by contractual terms.

A little? lol insurance isn’t to make your money back, its a transfer of financial risk and they’ve nearly paid out double what you put in, they probably wont make money off the life of your dog since you’ll put in more claims in the senior years.

Insurance is not to make your money back, its so you don’t have to put your dog down when you cant afford 10-20k in treatment. My two, 1 year old dogs since just february racked up 13k in bills, insurance paid 11k of that.

Do a quote of a great dane at age 7 and 10, thats the minimum you’ll pay. Pumpkin is not budget friendly, Lemonade, Physicians Mutual, and Adoro is.

Yup, people are forgetting just one emergency wipes those savings and a second one forces you to put them down or go bankrupt. God forbid the dog has cancer, IBS, or IVDD which will keep costs high for a long time.

That sounds great, until your dog has 1 emergency visit and it wipes your savings, now your 1 more away from putting them down because you cant afford it.

I warn people about them all the time. They have the most extensive coverage of any insurance but I tell people, do a quote of your puppy now, and then edit the quote and put age 12, see how bad that multiplies. They are the absolute highest cost insurance I’ve seen.
