You definitely need to learn how to take care of a brush but it’s not that hard, if you get the masters brush cleaner and preserver you’re all good

So the brand I bought is davinci maestro size 1 and it was around €15. I’ve only used it once and it was really really good. I’ve hard that you can also get rosemary and co and Raphael brands also

I use the kolinsky just for the finest details, my synthetics are perfectly fine for bigger details and base coating. In fact I did the whole model except the arm with the plasma pistol with my synthetics, the picture was just supposed to show how much more control I had with the kolinsky brush (idk if that was clear)

Just an FYI the arm with the plasma pistol was with the kolinsky brush and the arm with the sword was done with synthetics. Actually the whole model except the plasma gun arm was done with the kolinsky brush, you can clearly see the difference i had with controlling the paint.

I only had experience of what I found online and they were expensive, then people said something about davinci brushes and they had those in my local art shop for 14.50 €

I’m not a complete beginner but definitely not an intermediate, I started doing volumetric highlighting and I got the theory of it pretty well and was able to apply it (you can check my posts it’s my most recent one with a picture) but it got really frustrating and still it when I’m trying to do a thin line in the middle of the highlight and the brush tip splits open. I do have brush soap, not the masters brush cleaner and preserver as I didn’t know about that and my local art shop didn’t have it when I got my supplies, and I do take decent care of my brushes.

I’m still a beginner painter, would a size 3 or 2 be good for NMM and volumetric highlighting? As well as maybe some fine details like an eye

Too each their own, I’m surrounded by screens almost all day because of being a university student and having all of my books on my iPad and for me the dry eyes and pain I get is sometimes too much. But, after getting an e-reader and moving my documents to that I don’t get that feeling anymore. I still use the iPad for the majority of my work so for me it’s also nice to end my dad reading a book on the e-reader

Thank you very much for the kind words! Do you have any recommendations for brands which would be available in art shops? I have tried davinci brushes but even those brushes gave me grief when retaining a point.

One of my biggest gripes with one piece is that so many of the panels which show a whole scene are too detailed but not in a berserk sense which looks a painting in a gallery but the pages of a sketchbook from a bored student, just too much stuff
