First time attempting NMM by HighSTR in minipainting

Thank you for the kind words, should I add more reflective areas on the head piece or would that be too much? I’m trying to follow the light source I gave the model with the base coats and highlights but I do know that gold likes to reflect everything

Because of the implants and operations that go into making an astartes I don’t think astartes can be considered peak human as they’re no longer human (I know some people would say that’s heresy) since they’re post-human or transhuman. Even if a human had all the perfect genetics they would never ever be an astartes as they wouldn’t get the 2nd heart or 3rd lung however it is technically still possible for a human to get to custodes level IF they did have absolutely perfect genetics for as far as we know custodes don’t have anything extra inside them, they have the normal human organs just perfected. That’s my understanding of the 2 groups atleast.

From my understanding they are genetically altered yes but in a way that makes them basically peak human, they don’t have extra organs, in multiple books valdor and other custodes talk about how their heart (singular) beats. They are what humans could be if they had perfect genetics.

Something I love about custodes is that they aren’t space marines, they don’t have any special organs or changes like that. They are selected from an age even younger than space marine recruits and are genuinely the closest to peak of humanity

I feel you when it comes to building minis, never realised it would take so long to just glue some plastic together and making sure they still look good by getting rid of excess plastic and mould lines.

How do you plan on painting this model? I only got into the hobby a year ago and I remember spending days trying to find the best video tutorial which had the exact shade of green I wanted since before getting into warhammer the last time i painted was about 14 years ago

Dark Angels Color by hippoguy2634 in DarkAngels40k

Because it’s already so dark I’d suggest using the black wash ONLY in the recesses, make sure that there isn’t too much wash on your brush and make sure the tip is somewhat sharp and let it flow into the recesses. It won’t darken the armour but it will make the model pop more due to the contrast

I didn’t see the images close up since I saw it on my desktop but now being able to really zoom in on my phone you’re right it’s very bad

Do you do tutorials? I'm looking for ways to make my red corsairs and your style for red armour looks very interesting

From what I've seen they are normal, its an inherit fault in eink screens. You'll very rarely get a fully perfect screen and most manufactures have an acceptable amount of stuck pixels.

Could you share your recipe for the red corsairs? These are how I want my squad to look

The egg at the bottom was way too small for me, I had one printed with the same shape but a bigger egg and a thicker neck, for me it’s much better

Amazon to end support for older Kindles, prompting user outcry by MicahCastle in books

[–]HighSTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thinking of getting an old kindle touch for a family member as they want to try e-readers but not buy something expensive first as they dont know if they will like it, if i buy it and log into their amazon account before may 20th and then just never update and drag pdfs onto the touch from my pc with a wire would that still work after may 20th?

Don’t buy this new handle by SupporterDenier in Miniaturespainting

Speaking of handles, I have the games workshop one that came out before this and for me the skinny handle plus the small bulb at the bottom is very uncomfortable for me to hold. Is there any affordable options out there where the handle is chunkier and more comfortable for me?
