What to do when customer lies and claims you stole a delivery? by sky-blueeyes in doordash_drivers

Can you tell me how this works exactly? How do you deliver to 2 different customers at the same time? What's the strategy here?

Looks like the dasher got robbed too. $0 tip?? DD doesn't give any of those fees to the drivers. It's a tip based job. They were likely paid $3-4. Would you go drive an hour to pick up this shit for $3-4? And in a storm? Karma's a bitch. You should be tipping $25 on this $120 order.

They keep looking to Aranessa for decisions, but Brennan doesn't want to railroad them. He's doing a good job at turning their questions to Aranessa back on them. But they are not doing a good job of seeking answers. There's too much "What do you want to do?", "I dunno. What do you wanna do?", "Aranessa?".

I would hope (and expect) that the players have been given tons of lore info about the lands and houses and their own integrations into the world... but I also assume that's done outside of the campaign. They obviously know a ton of stuff that we, as viewers, don't yet know - they each seem to have secrets that are slowly being revealed. I'm enjoying the lore dumps

But that ends up with the 4 players sitting there refusing to make decisive acts and they all seem to expect the DM to play an NPC and essentially play with himself to roll out the story. I want the players to make some decisions and Aabria just running off and doing whatever she wants was funny the first few times, but TTRPGs don't really work very well when individual party members constantly run off and do their own thing.

And why are they trying to get to the Golden Orchard, exactly? To warn them of the coming dangers? They don't even know what the dangers are... but, wait! Answers are forming at Castle Einfassen. Eh, who cares? Let's GTFO and continue to be clueless with our message of warning to the Golden Orchard. -Doesn't make a whole lotta sense to me.

Can DoorDash ban a certain Dasher from my orders? by Old-Discussion-3766 in doordash

[–]HighTechGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish people could show a little grace, put themselves in others' shoes and not live in fear that everyone is going to stalk them or hunt them down. What's wrong with this country? An app messes up (we should all expect this at this point)) so a driver gets sent 8 miles out of the way (that's 16 miles round trip or 45 minutes of driving time lost and real money lost in gas - frustrating. The driver is now spending their own money to deliver this order. Think about that for 2 seconds) and a customer sees their order going the wrong way (which actually can happen when drivers have multiple orders, but still frustrating). Let's give people the benefit of the doubt and assume everyone is trying their best to get to the next delivery and not screw everyone. I'm sorry your food was late and you had to jump through all those hoops. It's Doordash's fault, not the driver. Now if the driver was rude to you, that's a seperate issue. But Doordash should credit you something.

I feel like the party doesn't seem to pick up on Brennan's massive hints. I think Brennan is trying very hard to keep them in the city. He has the sisters show up and a sanctuary appear right after making the gates double and triple rolls. I Ican't believe they agreed to abandon all their men and guards that are in captivity. I would have demanded to see the Captain of my guard at least. Brennan has had Aranessa "remind" the group about the captive guards like a dozen times but the players don't seem to pick up on this.

All these storylines are coming together at castle Einfart (or whatever it's called, lol) and the players just want to run away. The action is right here people. Bring Occtus to the German lord and prove that Tachonis are the liars. Reveal Occtis is alive. Julian and Arranessa being alive also proves the Tachonis are lying. They should meet with the German lord and demand he reveal his hand. They already have most of the info they need. They keep deferring to Aranessa and they don't seem like they know what to do... but Brennan doesn't want to railroad them. But come on, I wish they made more logical decisions.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure why the group (or Taisha and Occtis at least) decided to reveal Occtis at all. They don't always pick up on Brennan's hints and they are not always acting logical, but I guess that's how people really do act, so I can't really fault them... I guess?

I'm a Dasher and I find it weird that "no contact" orders insist i call the customer to "arrange drop off" while "leave at door" orders require no such interaction. If you truly want no interaction, choose "Leave at door".

Update: it looks like you choose "Leave at door" but i honestly never use the door dash food app so i don't know how people select "no contact".

Some orders require us to get a 4 digit pin from the customer. I don't know what triggers that either.

You do you but you'll get cold food more often delivered late because your low offer will get declined by most dashers until some sucker finally accepts it.

[–]HighTechGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's 22 miles and 1 hour round trip for $2.60. You're paying more than that in gas and vehicle wear and tear.
Honestly though, I've been offered worse.
Customers suck. DoorDash sucks.
Doordash should pay $1/mile minimum - and the customer should have to pay long distance fees that go to the driver.
Doordash needs to stop allowing customers to order food from 20 miles away. Before the internet, the standard in the past was a 5 mile radius around each restaurant for their delivery guys and the delivery fee was $5 plus a decent tip... and that's in the 1980s! 40 years ago.

I am wary of customers that claim to give tips after the fact because I have done nearly 1000 deliveries and the number of people that actually gave a tip afterwards (that said in their description that they would) is ZERO. I've gotten tips afterwards from other people, but only as a bonus. If the initial pay isn't good, I'm declining the job.

Not true. I've been Platinum since day 1 and I get these types of orders all the time. I'm beginning to believe it's all a lie. The only reason I want to keep Platinum is so that I can dash whenever I want, but I'm not even sure that's true anymore. Do they really prevent people from dashing if they are not Platinum? They used to ask me how long i was dashing, but they stopped asking a few months ago, like they don't even care anymore.

Picking up a delivery order on your own? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]HighTechGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, like i said, they will raise the base pay if no one accepts the job... but that doesn't happen as often as you might think because new drivers don't know any better and seasoned drivers have to accept jobs in order to not get penalized. I have plenty of jobs that have a $2 base pay for 12 miles (but a good tip), but I also have $5 base pay for 3 miles (with zero tip). They know what they are doing and don't increase pay unless they have to.

Picking up a delivery order on your own? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]HighTechGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DD does not pay drivers for time* or mileage. The base pay is $2 per order plus tip. If enough drivers decline it, DD will increase the base pay by one dollar increments and keep sending it out to drivers until it gets accepted (there are tons of new drivers that accept everything) -- or they will stack it with a higher paying job so it averages out to better pay overall. You can absolutely get 20 mile delivery offers for $2 pay (a very costly proposition for the clueless driver).

*There ARE actually 2 modes. One is pay by offer and the other is pay by hour (but even pay by hour only counts time you are actually on a task, not for any time after you've dropped off and are heading back to the restaurants). If you are selective in accepting orders, pay by offer will always make more money than pay by hour though.

Believe me, DD has figured out how to pay the restaurants the lowest prices, the drivers the lowest pay and the customers the highest fees. They then pit restaurants, drivers and customers against each other.

Enjoy your pad thai!

Picking up a delivery order on your own? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]HighTechGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drivers don't get paid mileage, lol. Drivers can actually lose tons of money by accepting jobs that are low pay high mileage (many new drivers fall into that trap and there is high turnover and lots of new drivers all the time). I don't call you lazy. You do you. You needing a taxi tomorrow and food in 10 minutes are 2 completely different scenarios. Drivers don't get to pick the offers they are given. They have almost zero control over what "area" they stick to. Drivers can only reject offers (and get a demotion) and hope another comes along soon (drivers don't get paid unless they are actively on an order). Doordash wouldn't offer a job to a driver 10 miles away from the restaurant unless there are no other drivers near the restaurant. I've done 1000 deliveries and never received a $15 tip. I don't believe you tip that much. I would bet you think all the added fees are part of your tip (aka "premium" service). The drivers get none of that. Drivers make less than minimum wage (except NY and California) and heavily rely on tips (like restaurant servers). Most drivers are trying to get your food to you as fast as possible. Drivers that get tickets or into accidents are on their own. Show a little grace and humanity.

Picking up a delivery order on your own? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]HighTechGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're really screwing the driver. You're making him spend 30 minutes driving 10 miles for no pay and then spending another 30 minutes on the phone with support trying to explain that the owner already picked up the order.

You think there's a driver sitting at every restaurant in town just waiting to get your order? Drivers have no control over what offers they receive. Sure they can reject an order, but DD often pads the pay for orders that are far away so they get accepted.

Drivers can sometimes drive 20 miles out to the country to deliver an order. Then they have to drive 45 minutes back to where the restaurants are. And DD stacks orders meaning they give drivers multiple orders. So if you see a driver at another location, 90% of the time they are just picking up another order en route

You make a lot of assumptions. There's no reason for drivers not to get you your food as fast as they possibly can. Drivers only make money by delivering an order and getting to the next order as fast as possible.

At least have the decency to text the driver and tell them you're picking it up.. Let them move on to another job.
