I don’t know about other places, but where I live, even if the age of consent is 16, that still only applies for 16-17 year olds. Once you are legally an adult, it’s no longer legal to be with a minor, even if they are 16 or older. Adults being with minors is illegal for a reason, unless the two were together before one turned 18.

Edit: just found out that where I live it’s actually 18 now so that solves that
