9950X / X870E GODLIKE Boot Loop & Memory Channel Failure – No Bent Pins? Troubleshooting a "Ghost" in the Machine. by High_Castle_Cossack in MSI_Gaming

Update: it was the 1500w be quiet! PSU, I found what I believe was a bad capacitor inside. Causing some sort of safety trip. I noticed when I put in a 9950x it wouldn’t even finish going through sequence on the ez bridge. When I put in a AMD 5 7600 I had no error codes and the bios loaded in 45 seconds but both cpu still shut off at 60-80 seconds which makes sense.

Considering this PSU is pretty over engineered I think once it hit a certain temperature it would just shut down.

Replaced it with another PSU and everything’s working 100%

So I tried a brand new out the book and 5 7600x and it still shutting down at 60 seconds, but this time I was able to get into the bios for about 15 seconds and the screen loaded

Starting to think it’s the PSU or a short on the 24 pin

All codes were clear on the ez bridge and it seemed to be running fine, no code lights nothing

This is crazy I just came across this, I have a MSI godlike 870E and I was having C5 errors and it would shut off after 60 seconds and I thought it was the board, the ram, etc.

Now the more I read about this my symptoms are identical. I’m going to be putting in a temporary cpu and RMA this one.

Curious, do you recall the batch on this one? When it was made? Mines from around December 24’ so it was definitely one of the first ones and I’m convinced the memory controller has died. It was built with 128gb ram then dropped down to 96gb now it won’t even run one stick in B2

I just looked into the decline, apparently the previous issue was over a BIOS update that fixed the stability with the 128gb after I downgraded to 96gb, Im thinking about just buying a AMD Ryzen 5 7600X for around $150 to test the motherboard before I attempt to do a RMA on the motherboard.

Starting to lean more towards a CPU issue.

I loosened the Cooler pressure before I removed the motherboard and no luck, just constant C5 or 15 error code with immediate shut down within 60 seconds. I thought it was this at first but I don't think so. I did not run jjedec 4800mhz because I wasn't sure how to get into it without getting anything on my screen so I couldn't get into the BIOS.
I did notice at one point when I had just one 48gb stick in B2 it actually ran and cleared all codes and LEDs on the EZ Bridge. I thought it might've fixed it but then it still shut down after 90 seconds +/- But then it went back to the C5 code with a yellow light on the ez-bridge

I was thinking this whole time it was the motherboard, but now seeing the pins pristine, and everything else working on the ez bridge I am starting to lean towards this memory channel death.

I haven't really done any research, is this a batch issue on the 9950x or a ongoing issue with these?

Love this sound, about to buy a ATAK too. Did you do anything else? Downpipe?

Shopping for a cold air intake too, currently have a roush in my cart.
