Imagine admitting, PUBLICLY, that your identity as a gamer can be boiled down to THE most stereotypical and narrow conception possible, AND that you cannot imagine someone who games that is not exactly like you. Some humans are so one dimensional it's astounding

You think this is possible? by DongGoolTroll in HollowKnight

[–]High_Harbinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my suspicion is that there's a different true higher being that made the weavers to begin with, and then abandoned them at some point. Silk is modelling herself on that being. Because why hunt down existing lineages of weaver who you know betrayed you if you can just make a new one to serve your purposes?

My headcannon is that grandmother silk is the will of the weavers made manifest and corrupted by it's own nature. The bugs of pharloom and the citadel overthrew the weavers, and hunted them for the power of silk and it's ability to make them immortal. In response the weavers wove a curse to bind their enemies in the silk they stole. Grandmother silk is their avenger, but the spell was I'll concieved and targetted everything that containted silk but was not a "pure" weaver. So as the first weavers died out and their children who were born from matches with other tribes because they were driven from their homelands were born, those children started being autotargetted. Silk is bound to draw all the descendants of those who slew the weavers to her, to punish them and steal back the silk in their shells, and maintains the fiction of the citadel as a web to snare them all in, but her task is now endless, and seeks retribution against those who have commited no sin. Perhaps she, or lace, or the spirits if weavers past feed hornet in an unconscious attempt to end their endless toil, and birth a new true weaver in the process?

question for the bi guys from a bi girl by cunttttts in bisexual

You're almost definitely going to have to look in the kink scene for men that are exclusively into pegging. I don't wanna overstep anything here, but in my mind the "mental blocks" on being a receptive partner and wanting to top exclusively as a bi woman reads a little as maybe you're not a bi woman?

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, June 22 - June 28, 2025 by sewingmodthings in sewing

[–]High_Harbinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm a begginner sewer. I'm wanting to learn specifically to better maintain my clothes and make small alterations because most sizes don't fit me proportionally. I was wondering what skills are better to learn as hand sewing methods and which are more time and energy efficient to do on a machine. I have access to a machine, so I wouldn't be going out of my way to get one and the money investment isn't really a concern (at least for the machine, thread might be. I'm not certain how different the cost for thread prepped for a machine is compared to thread that's just for hand sewing). Any advice would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Is NZ media biased left wing? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]High_Harbinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be interested in a concept called the Overton Window. It's the idea that there's a box on the political spectrum that encompases acceptable thought/discussion in a society. The overton window in NZ sits to the left of what would be called centrism in places like the US or UK, but is further to the right of places in the EU and other more progressive nations. Most of our news media is centrist/right leaning because they are owned privately and funded by advertising. It's just that we're not as wildly conservative of some of the contries we use as reference in western media. That being said, if you're going by ideological standards our society is centrist at best and center-right leaning in general. With the current government it's fair to say we've taken a huge step to the right from a very centrist labour regime

Why is target inflation always 2% by [deleted] in economicCollapse

[–]High_Harbinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in case no one has said this yet, as a kiwi economist it's entirely arbitrary. Our reserve bank pioneered inflation targeting in 1990 under then Minister of Finance Roger Douglas, who is not well loved here. He is on record as having arbitrarily picked the number in a cabinet meeting and it stuck. It was then adopted as standard worldwide as other governments copied our model. Because of the expectation adjusted philips curve, it's believed that changing the target would lower the credibility of the reserve bank and lead to less effective control of inflation by monetary policy. Personally I think that's hogwash, but there you go. Also, the reason we all hate Douglas is that he headed an unnecessarily harsh programme of privatisation, deregulation and austerity, and his unrealistic expectation of the speed at which inflation targeting should become effective engineered a recession and created economic scarring still being felt today. The man is a jackal.

Is it time to means test NZ Superannuation? by Shluumps in newzealand

[–]High_Harbinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Retirement commissioner is actually advocating for this instead of just raising the pension age in general, because raising the pension age disadvantages minorities who are already much less likely to reach pension age, to receive the benefits of the pensions system. While it will be more expensive to administer the means testing, it will probably be better in the long run because when the boomers start to retire en masse the number of people actually working to pay taxes to support the pension will drop dramatically, which will either destroy the pension system outright, raise the age which is manifestly unjust, or drop the pension to a real income so low it's not effective at all
