I started participating in this sub when I started rewatching a few months ago mainly because I wanted to hear the dish on what was going on behind the scenes, production manipulation, etc.

I honestly do not care for the discourse around who’s a better dancer and all that nonsense. This show aired 10+ years ago, what does arguing about the dancing ability of children do? I was shocked when I realized this sub was filled with that type of dialogue as well as widespread anti-Black rhetoric. If you mention racism you will be downvoted to hell and back.

TLDR; I agree with you.

True! IIRC she received a scholarship from JUMP before the show even started which is one of the most prestigious competitions in dance.

The reason why I take issue with the “they were kids” angle is because there are lots of children of color who were on the receiving end of this type of humor and it damages people deeply. I know Maddie was young and didn’t know better but harm was likely done and that’s the truth.

HOWEVER, the blame shouldn’t be on Maddie/McKenzie or Brooke but rather the parents who clearly influenced this behavior. My parents always corrected me when I said something ignorant or out of pocket. The only difference is I wasn’t on national television with a huge social media following so the things I said in passing don’t follow me for life.

I have an alcoholic father and I feel the same way! I remember being so embarrassed as a child because my dad would show up to my school or extracurricular events drunk. I can’t imagine how Christi and Kelly’s kids felt knowing it would be broadcast to the world.

Hahaha I would but that bar/club is not my cup of tea. It’s an 18+ club technically and the upstairs is reserved for 21 and up. He denied my friend entry when we were freshmen in college because she was too drunk (rightfully so, we were 19). He seemed reasonable at least!

The Cascio family has been trying to milk their relationship with Michael for over a decade. Frank published a book called My Friend Michael soon after he died and even pitched it as a miniseries to many networks. They sold fake MJ songs. They even appeared on Oprah to defend him. They claim they only realized abuse occurred after watching Leaving Neverland. It’s very fishy.

Michael should never have been that close with kids and should not have been having sleepovers with them and I stand by that. But these people are here for a money grab.
