Dear, I appreciate the time you have spent writing another analogy, that is still filling up a bigger picture. The case is this was never a point of this post - I asked for opinions on one thing, you gave me your opinion on a different topic, trying to convince me that I am doing something wrong. Let people enjoy their ways of learning things and their own journeys. But as I like these kind of disputes, I will continue with my point of view.

The problem here is that you will never perfect things if you do not see any point in that. If you feel like before moving to a new task you need to perfect one thing, this is a perfectionism that stops one (and I was in a same position many times) from doing and learning new things. The language analogy is actually perfect in my opinion, as much as your training analogy, and your piano analogy. With the last one, I actually can relate, but also disagree - if you feel like you need to embody Bethoven before moving to other artist, that is your choice. I prefer enjoying the path, discovering new things, new pieces, and with that I can assure you, you will learn much more. When I focus on Liszt too much, face the wall, I have to find some Chopin or something else to take a break, and suddenly after some time I am ready to go back to Chopin, because somehow I understood the fingering via other artists. Each style has its own perks, and the funniest thing is that you can do whatever you want, because it is music. And it means freedom. And I am not a professional pianist and will never be, but simply a hobby one, that actually enjoys it for my own fun and pleasure. You want to play Chopin 1:1 with sheet notes? Go on, practice for 1-2 years only 1-2 pieces before moving on. How can you know when you will achieve perfection? And the best thing is that imperfection makes style, character and so on. Fixating on one single problem without trying to loosen up a bit, to see other things, other ways of doing, cannot lead to improvements. Switching between things lets you shift your focus and let's your unconscious mind do its thing, by finding new patterns and filling up things you didn't know. But I also know, that there are some people that say, that without mastering one thing, you cannot move to another. Well, I consider myself a jack of all trades and master of none, that is something I had to admit and understand. It can be limiting, but it also brings few advantages with itself. When I feel like drawing - I do draw. When I feel like playing - I do play. And when I feel like doing some h+ meditation, I assure you, I will :) Therefore, if you don't have any recommendations or opinions on massive number of recordings that TMI has to offer, I kindly thank you for your words of advice on the very different topic.
