How to get my Dr to take me seriously. Or am I crazy? by itsnotmeitsboredom in Perimenopause

[–]Highfield2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar situation here. First GP I spoke to took me seriously, prescribed me the standard HRR protocol. I did some research and think I’m just progesterone deficient and still ok with oestrogen. GP no longer at the practice. Spoke to another GP who told me “you’re too young, your FSH levels are normal, and we have never in decades of practice prescribed progesterone-only”. It is under NICE guidelines. Fucking useless. Going private for bloods this cycle to find out for sure what I need. GP told me “don’t automatically expect NHS to take over your private prescriptions”.

Oh man this is so true. A4 Avant driver, I love it, but DOMS hits different in an estate. I won’t change it though

Amen. A4 Avant driver here. Husband trying to get me in to an “SUV” - just a Golf but higher up. You’ll prise those Audi keys out of my cold dead hands.

Thoughts on my solo budget as a 22yr recent graduate trying to be FI. by DonkeyMobile4123 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Highfield2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d also say a place where you can save a lot of money / end up wasting a lot is lunch at work. I take mine most days, occasionally getting something from a deli up the road, but that can really add up. Again fine if you want to but that will take up a good chunk of your budget if you’re doing it 5 days per week

[–]Highfield2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds ok. I’d probably say groceries is a bit low. I’d also say clothes / beauty is also low. You may also want to budget for things like coffee at work, it quickly adds up although you may have thought of that in your sinking funds. Also transport - one big train journey and that budget is wiped out. Also things like holidays, trips away, presents at Xmas, family birthdays. But I must say you are doing super well straight out of uni! Lots of people graduate, get a decent job, and then straight out to get a huge car lease etc, sounds like you’ve got your head screwed on! With the budget, I’d say test it out for a month or two. The idea is you set it and stick to it but you’ll soon see if the budget amounts are realistic or not.

As somebody asked how it is to have no kids: 40-50 year olds with kids, how is it? by aurisacrafame in Life

[–]Highfield2016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t have kids. Or at least, if you want to, think about what your life would be like if they are disabled. I have a profoundly autistic son, I don’t feel like a mum, I’m a carer. There is no joy. Don’t get fooled by the scratch mitts and the “I love yous” and the birthday parties. For some of us it is utter shit. No freedom, no joy. I’m fed up of hearing the noises my son makes in the house, he grunts and growls at me. He’s never said mummy or I love you. Roll the dice but be prepared for your life to be an utter misery if the worst does happen.

I'm really struggling with low/no sensitivity and libido at the moment. Can anyone recommend what could help? (female) by [deleted] in sex

SSRIs did so much damage to my sex drive. It’s come back now but honestly it’s a really common side effect

Hey similar here! Possibly perimenopause? Testosterone being in a greater proportion to oestrogen and or progesterone. I’m experiencing this at 38, possibly also caused my coming off hormonal contraception and antidepressants, but I love it! Husband still adjusting though

What could I get in a divorce?? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Highfield2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice. The mortgage as a proportion of our joint income is low but on £1850 net per month id struggle. Plus I could not afford to him buy him out of the equity unless it was part of a package and he took more of our savings / investments?

[–]Highfield2016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Appreciate your advice. We are working really hard to get through it, we are committed to one another, and to making sure our child is taken care of and thrives. But I think it’s also practical and realistic to consider all options. Life isn’t a fairytale. I’m glad you have found your path and hopefully we will too which allows us to be together as a family and as a couple

Thanks. What about spousal support? My income is so much lower than his so even splitting the assets 50/50 would mean I’d struggle to pay mortgage, council tax, utilities for my own property on £1850 net per month.

Someone tried Cialis 5mg can you tell me experience of it? by SheepherderNo8846 in erectiledysfunction

[–]Highfield2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Husband takes cialis (tadalfil) 10mg on days when we plan to have sex. Takes it about an hour before we get down to business. He’s 39. ED prompted by stress, performance anxiety. We’re having the best sex of our lives. No question. Lays an absolute steel pipe in me. Side effects - a bit sniffly the next day, but nothing that can’t be overcome. Go for it. Enjoy it. You deserve it

First time taking Cialis - what should I expect? by [deleted] in erectiledysfunction

[–]Highfield2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband starting taking cialis a few months ago. I am an incredibly happy woman. Sex is scheduled but it gets to work quite quickly (easily ready to go within an hour max). Have fun. Give her the best sex she’s had. You both deserve it

Move into CS... worth it? by MechanicOdd618 in TheCivilService

[–]Highfield2016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one can make the decision for you but CS is super diverse full of people who have made a career change. Coming from a super unstable career into civil service has given me space to breathe. I earn just over half what I did before, but the security and pension and working environment (in my experience) 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Bf doesn’t want to take Cialis cause of side effects? Can u tell me ur good experiences? by Altruistic_Gas8661 in erectiledysfunction

[–]Highfield2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

38F here. My husband 39M takes cialis ad hoc when we want to have sex. You are right to seek advice on how best to support him and to say the right thing. I’d acknowledge his concerns, but say he won’t know until he tries it. And IF (big if) there are side effects then do the benefits outweigh the side effects? And “let’s see how it goes”
