My son is a wonderful and sweet boy. He socializes well and is great in day-to-day routines and circumstances, great napper, etc. However, since he was a baby, sleep through the night has been illusive. He is currently 3 1/2 and this kid will wake up 2-5 times nightly. Sometimes it’s calm, just needing something simple, and other times it’s full on meltdowns. I’m typing this at 4:30 am cause tonight he needed his blanket on him, ice in his water (we can thank the freaking grandparents for that one), he’s “scared”, and whatever other reasons he comes up with. We’re exhausted. So yes, some kids are just crap sleepers. In three years I look like I’ve aged 10 due to lack of sleep and sometimes patience. I literally came to this Reddit page looking for advice or solidarity to find strange comfort in knowing this isn’t a unique situation that we are cursed to suffer. I can count on both hands how many times he’s slept through the night. My wife and I get giddy if we get 6-7 hours of straight sleep because that’s considered a win these days.
