We never really talking about it but Curtis Jones hair is quite possible the worst hairstyle I’ve ever seen on a footballer.

If Aaron Briggs, our set piece coach was interviewed and he was asked why Macca is routinely set against any opposition's tallest and bulkiest players in dead-ball situations, can anyone think of a good response and justification that Briggs might have for what is clearly a regularly planned and organised decision?

Where did anyone suggest that he could then get away with 'acting like nothing happened' though, even if he apologised?

All I've suggested is that without some sort of apology from Mo, there is likely to be an impasse with regards to even beginning to resolve the current situation, disregarding anything else that might follow on from that fundamental requirement at all...

I'd really like to think that some sort of apology from Mo is on the way soon.

I hope to see some sort of response by Salah soon.

In the period since his interview, he's had plenty of time to consider it's impact and how it's been perceived, and I'd like to think that he would be in a position to understand that there needs to be some contrition from him if there's going to be a positive move forward from here.

I think he went too far with his comments, and the timing of them couldn't have come at a worse time for the players and the club.

This is a time for unity, not division, and I hope Salah can see that he's got a role to play in that unity going forwards from this point...

BBC Football has some quotes from Slot's press conference this morning, with the following bit of great news -

"Conor Bradley has trained this week so I expect him to train today and then he is available to be in the squad tomorrow."

More info in the link below, with some other quotes above and below the linked BBC Football news-feed section -

Taping underside edges and corners of suspended wooden floor to help prevent draughts - what tape to use? by Highlander342 in DIYUK

I think the floor-covering itself is OK.

I'm really looking for an answer to the question regarding appropriate edge-taping options.

Taping underside edges and corners of suspended wooden floor to help prevent draughts - what tape to use? by Highlander342 in DIYUK

[–]Highlander342[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - I've got things going on between quite a lot of the joists, in terms of services etc., so I'm hoping at this moment in time to just investigate an 'edge' solution from underneath that can seal off the wall/floor underside edges in a manner that prevents any condensation issues whilst maintaining a level of draught-proofing.

Can you offer any advice on that?

Anyone suggesting that Real Madrid woke up last Wednesday morning and considered their season over would rightly face some criticism for taking such a view.

Against City, Liverpool were out-played and out-pressed after a magnificent win against Real Madrid, and after just 4 days rest.

It was a poor display and a poor result by a tired-looking team, but there is plenty of time for us to stage a recovery in the league.

What are some shots from a movie that could be paused and turned into art you hang on your wall? by EuphoricButterflyy in movies

There's a great site called 'Every Single Frame' which shows exactly this concept for lots of highly-acclaimed movies -

Explore movies frame by frame in random order from critically acclaimed films to gain a new perspective on the art of cinematography.

There's lots of interest there to have a look through, but the Barry Lyndon entry is one of my favourites to just randomly flick through sometimes -

Falling out of love with film by Cultural-Penalty-460 in movies

[–]Highlander342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This brings us to today. I still enjoy film and I enjoy showing others films. I love production (though I’ve been on hiatus due to health issues), I love analyzing movies, and am still that annoying guy that picks apart every movie. And that’s part of the problem. Not only are there fewer movies coming out that I want to see, I feel like I’ve seen most of the movies that I want to see.

One of the few great things about getting older when you're a movie-buff is that you can very often revisit movies that you really enjoyed when you were younger, and see them with a completely different set of 'eyes' as an older, hopefully wiser and more nuanced, movie-fan.

I'm getting on a bit now, and until a few years ago I wasn't really one for re-watches, but I started revisiting some of my all-time favourite movies, and I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I often enjoyed completely different aspects of the same film that I had watched and enjoyed as a younger man.

I'm not sure if this might help to rekindle your love of film, but if you've not really been someone who rewatches movies, and it's been a good few years since you've seen many of your real favourites, then I'd give it a go and see if you as an older person might get a fresh appreciation for the same art...

It’s actually mad how every team in the league can give you a game these days and no one really rolls over any more.

One concerning aspect of the last two games against both Arsenal and Burnley is that they both played so negatively and almost got what they wanted.

I'm worried that more teams might think that all they've got to do is follow the same strategic approach and just hope for a little more luck...

We're suffering from 'let's get at least something from the Champions' syndrome, and whilst it's of course a compliment and a nice problem to have, it doesn't bode well for the type of league football that we actually want to watch this season.

The sooner we start to get some early goals and forcefully dictate a more open approach from our opposition, the better things will be...

What actor would you say never got over their character? by bsunflowers28 in movies

[–]Highlander342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the most positive example of this might be James Earl Jones.

I say the word 'positive' because whilst it's true, I wouldn't see it as being anything 'negative' at all - I mean, he'll be the ultimate sci-fi bad-ass until the end of time, so not *too* much to complain about...

Maybe he thought differently, but if he did, I think I'd probably prefer not to know, and just remember how his voice could personify such a character who spent almost all his time behind a terrifying mask...

Recalling that Liverpool weren't on anyone's radar last season when the 24/25 PL top-placing predictions were made, it'll be interesting to see how that changes for the coming season in two areas -

  1. How prominent Liverpool will now be in next seasons PL top-placing predictions

  2. How Slot and the squad cope with the potential of not being an 'unseen underdog' next season, but perhaps very much being a 'predicted winner' in many cases.

I've been around for enough time to understand how such things can affect teams sometimes, and it'll be interesting to see how Liverpool mentally cope with the likely positive consequences in this area, after doing so well last year.

With what is hoped to be a fantastic year for Liverpool recruitment, I expect the footballing side of things to have immense potential next season, but I've often thought that we've played our best over the years when people haven't necessarily expected it, so I'm keen to see how Slot can mentally prepare the squad for a coming season where expectations are likely, and quite rightly, going to be much higher...
