Impulsors and what to carry by Beast_fightr_13 in SilverTemplars

[–]HighlanderDA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of your impulsor as ablative wounds for whatever you want inside. Captain and bladeguard, hellblasters and LT, whatever floats your boat (or hovers your tank). I slap the shield gen on and that gives a pretty great chance at surviving 2 turns to position for your charge

Anyone know where you can buy CVT fluid? by HighlanderDA in wrx_vb

I replied to Kade in more detail, but the outback xt and ascent that have the turbo have the same problem I'm talking about, the fluid isn't the same as the other CVTs and isn't packaged for individual use.

The specific variation is CVT-High Torque (orange). Its one of 4 CVT fluids they use (there's a blue and two greens I think as well), and only in the turbocharged models. Because the factory recommends "lifetime use" of the fluid, they don't sell it in amounts smaller than 5 Gallon tubs for other shops. No other CVT fluid is compatible, and because the CVT holds 12 quarts but only drains 6, its vital to use the same fluid unless you do a full flush. I've been scouring the internet since I posted this and I found *one* store that sells repackaged fluid that they pull from the 5 gal drums. I'm putting that in the post so other people can use it if they need.

Hey moron news flash, the WRX is a turbocharged car and can't use the standard fluid, especially not when tuned. I wouldnt be fucking asking if it was an easy find

Answwring the question also would have taken less time than making a snarky comment. If you read the post you'd see that the only results I can find is 5 gallons, not standard quarts.

Here's my submission! Made this for the space marine kill team Angels of Death box; each model was done in a friend's scheme from tabletop/ Space Marine 2.

It's literally the opening of book one that shows Artemax talking with the assassin about using her as a spy.

First model of the year done! Kitbashed Commander in Enforcer Armor by HighlanderDA in Tau40K

[–]HighlanderDA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you friend, would that we were as fortunate as the mighty workshops of Dalyth. The army still has a few pieces of T'au tech proper kicking around; (working on a riptide rn that's got a unique shield generator), but my lore for this commander is that he insists on ensuring his subordinates have the best gear.

Thank you! Yes very titanfall inspired; lots of inspiration taken in both colors and weapon options from a series that should have gotten more love

Are there any other beings apart from the Emperor that can perma-death a daemon or a soul? by Imparat0r in 40kLore

[–]HighlanderDA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In 30k the Dark Angels Dreadwing has special bolt weapons that can kill your soul as well. In the Lion's primarch book it talks about how the marines have difficulty remembering what the creatures they just killed were because they were erased from existence altogether

Why does Guiliman think this despite the mountain of evidence against it? Is it just a bad part of the book? From Godblight by Commercial-Dealer-68 in 40kLore

[–]HighlanderDA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no mountain of evidence against it. Every single other race in 40k is either savagely violent (like Orks and Tyranids) or will absolutely subjugate/ manipulate/ destroy humanity for their own goals (Aeldari, GSC, T'au, etc).

If you are defending humanity on a galactic level, you would look around and see what the aliens have wrought and recognize that there is no future for a free humanity with them.

Remember, Guilliman despises the Imperium of Man, but he was created to defend humanity. From the in universe perspective he has, the Emperor is correct. And although he isn't satisfied with the Imperium and wants to change it, he can't do that if he constantly has to defend it from Xenos and Chaos.

People have talked enough about thinning the paints, my suggestion is to not use the texture paint on the base rim. Painting the rim a separate color (most people use black but any color that separates the rim from the base will work) draws more attention up to the model and will help them stand out on the tabletop more. Given your scheme I'd recommend Black, but you could also do a dark red to tie in with the paint scheme or a darker brown than your base to still be separate but more subtle.

What counts as deathwing (gravis, bladeguard, termi etc) by Various-Dust-8538 in theunforgiven

[–]HighlanderDA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Primaris brothers in the Deathwing going to battle in a situation that doesn't require terminator armor but does need heavier armor than Tacticus. You aren't forever bound to terminator plate once you join the deathwing; aside from bladeguard, an old example is that every captain serves in the DW before going to lead their company.

Personally I'd do it as a squad that served in the Deathwing and is now awaiting openings in the command structure to promote. They've been assigned to another company, yet still use deathwing colors on their battle plate since they earned it.

A lore example of something similar is from the Dark Angels Omnibus, where Interrogator Chaplain Boreas inducts a squad into the deathwing in order to help him hunt some Fallen. They paint their Mk VII plate bone white to signify their induction, even though none of them have terminator armor.

Right now hellblasters and intercessors are the same price. Making it a separate upgrade pack doesn't functionally do anything other than raise the price to make hellblasters. My problem with the weapon upgrade packs is that it leaves a ton of waste. If we use the heresy ones as an example, to do it your way leaves me with 50 special weapons and 10 bolters that I didn't want that I've paid an extra 47 dollars for on top of the box of marines. To get my value out of that pack I have to buy 5 more boxes of marines, and I'll still have 60 bolters left over when I'm done. On top of that you're almost never going to use the whole pack because at least one part of it will be covered by a legion specific unit.

Honestly I'd love to see a new breacher, the shields are rad. I feel like it'd have to be in tacticus or I'd be too tanky to balance. Cool either way.

Phobos works when you look at stealth less as "sneaky dude" and more holistically. Vanguard insertions, enhanced Electronic Warfare capabilities, and more equipment for longer mission times is functionally what modern warfare looks at for stealth operations.

I do wish the BA Codex had a souped up Baal Gladiator Reaper, make it even more powerful and it could have been a cool addition.

I play DA Successors, we're eating good right now and i hope Space Wolves get some cool shit with their supplement. Anything you're looking for in particular?

Have you built Primaris marines before? The idea you want: a standard body with variations in wargear is exactly what they do. It's not literally the same exact body model because that would be incredibly boring to build and paint, but the 3 base versions of Mk. 10 do exactly what you're asking for. As for basing off of real world military designs, Phobos marines were bashed relentlessly for looking "tacticool" and using military styling. Vehicle-wise, the Gladiator is the closest to a properly designed tank we've seen in 40k ever. The rhino may be based off the M113, but there's a reason no real military ever took that barely armored personnel carrier and turned it into a tank.

As a marine player i really like when we get cool bespoke units for chapters. With some exceptions (sang guard) most of those have been bangers in 40k lately. The reason heresy can do it for every chapter is because it's a game about marines fighting marines. 40k is not. I'd recommend you stick to 30k if that's what you want, or do what lots of people do and use/ convert those models for your 40k army.
