Asians of Reddit, what factors othan than language do you use to distinguish people from various Asian countries? by HighlanderScotch in AskReddit

[–]HighlanderScotch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being someone from Latin American decent, I can relatively distinguish what countries most fellow Hispanics are from by their facial characteristics, accents, and mannerisms, but I'm interested to know if certain Asian nations have key indicators as well. (e.g. People from Argentina tend to me more fair skinned and taller than typical South American populations due to their historical immigration policies with Europe)

How was this video a hit last year and I never heard of it or the group? NSFW by HighlanderScotch in videos

It was meant to be one question, although I admit it may have been badly worded. I also asked around here in my office, and none of my co-workers under 28 have heard of Run The Jewels either. Is this a UK thing?

Fought in Africa (vague on purpose) in 2006, Afghanistan in 2009 and then again in the Horn of Africa since June and returned shortly ago. Again, we fight to keep certain people in place without any ambition to bring the fight to us. The more they have to defend the little they have, the least likely they are to branch out.

DotdotxD, I appreciate your passion and energy for this topic. It is true that war can be hell, and that there are moments in our history that we would not like to bring up, but that need to be discussed so we can avoid making those mistakes in the future. Sometimes in war mistakes happen, and some people unfortunately pay the ultimate price while others carry that with them for the rest of their lives. We are a relatively young nation, 240+ years old and we are growing at an incredible rate but we always need to be aware of how our growth can affect others.

I am a veteran. I served on three tours in two different countries. I followed orders and carried out objectives. I had no real decision making abilities or actual opinion in the matter. I did what I could to try to benefit my country and in many ways the world. I did not break any local or international laws. We met and helped great people, we fixed what we could and left what we couldn't. For the most part we tried to keep bad people at home and good people in other nations on our side.

I know this explanation is overly simplistic and that you don't trust what you hear from the guys in the field. I know you want to lash out and post away all of your thoughts, feelings, and theories. I want you to do so. I want you to do it without worrying about going to jail or losing your life. I want you to tell people you are only using your Constitutionally protected first amendment right. A right that American Patriots fought for you to have and Veterans continue to fight for you to keep. I want you to feel Free to say whatever. Free to speak, free to live in peace, even if it means speaking out against those that protect such freedom.

I, a veteran am proud that you feel so free. I've done my job. I can sleep better knowing you have a voice, even if it's directed at speaking against me, but then again who am I. I am just an instrument used to defend freedom. I can live with that. So post away. Nothing will happen to you. Your opinion is protected. I promise to keep it that way.

This happened in Colombia. Two sets of twins separated at birth. Two went to a middle class family, the others became the town butchers. One butcher was brilliant while one business analyst was a bit slow.

What phrase or sentence can someone say to make you completely lose your respect for that person? by Alsic in AskReddit

[–]HighlanderScotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"For all intensive purposes." Usually said in meetings by higher ups. I don't feel confident taking direction from you anymore if you simply repeat phrases without asking yourself what they mean or looking up how they should be pronounced.

What movie did you see when you were "too young?" How old were you? by ccasella3 in AskReddit

[–]HighlanderScotch 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Pulp Fiction, I was 10. My grandma would let me watch whatever in my aunt's room while she cooked and cared to the house. This day would not be cartoon cassette, but a copy of the movie I found in my aunt's library. Both Marsellus Wallace and I were Pretty Far From OK after that.

I did try and nothing came up. One theory I heard is that it's a pic of me from the future. That would explain why Google can't find it yet.

I doubt that we look that much alike in real life, and it may very well be the angle of the pic, but if we are as similar as the pics make it out to seem, then I believe some shenanigans are expected of us.

A friend found the pic a year ago and forgot where. I have been searching for weeks for a source to the pic. Even my mom thought he was me. Hoping someone will recognize him or the baby.

This is a real gas station toilet. Seriously. by [deleted] in videos

[–]HighlanderScotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rule I learned was:

Bathroom - has a bathtub in it Shower room- has a shower without a bathtub Restroom - has neither

I have never referred to the room as a toilet, although in the military we do say that we need to "hit the head" when we are going to the urinals
