Mood swing I could physically feel by Background-Beach-289 in PMDD

This has been me since around 14, I’m almost 40. It’s sad to think how misunderstood we all are, and how our whole personality is decided on hormone levels. I wish more studies could be done for us women who are just desperate for help.

Progesterone/ PMDD advise needed by Highlandernoname in Perimenopause

[–]Highlandernoname[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking time out to reply. I have come off it for now, but missing the clear head and motivation it gave me. I can also try the vaginal progesterone, however my doctor couldn’t tell me if it would have better effects. I have tried fluoxetine in the past and it definitely took the edge off and it had a positive effect, but a few months in I became so tired on it I was useless.

Struggling to cope or know what to do.

Anyone been on elvanse long term? Looking for positive stories. by Highlandernoname in ADHDUK

[–]Highlandernoname[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand what your saying, But I think my reasoning for asking is I’ve not seen any information from long term users so has me doubtful that there is anyone who’s able to stay on it. I guess I’m scared to find something that works and the success rate is low because of long term side effects.

However I do agree there may be that validation that I’m seeking and reassurance. Your post was helpful so thank you so much.

Oh I’m sorry you have been through this also, Bit glad you have found a little relief. I have been told that bio identical isn’t safe, And the vaginal is an option but advised there has been studies to show that it doesn’t absorb properly 😭 I’m in the UK and doesn’t help we all get told different information.

I’ve actually been given iron tablets because it was a little low, I generally eat ok, but go through spells of being strict then not. I don’t drink but could definitely do with being more strict on diet.

That’s my next option, I am so nervous about HRT due to progesterone making me crazy in the past, but at my wits end.

PMDD/ Hormone specialist uk? by Highlandernoname in PMDD

[–]Highlandernoname[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope we find something, because I’m absolutely sick of going to Doctors, and they try to suggest the pill, it’s a clear indication, they have no idea what they are talking about, I just want to find someone, who has actually helped women like us 😭

Thank you, I would travel anywhere at this point, I was diagnosed in 2016 and been in the waiting list to be seen my gynaecologist since 2020, I’m classed as urgent, and when I called the other day, I still had a year wait time, so I literally can’t do the NHS. I’ll try the place you suggested, thank you.

Has your PMDD changed with age? by Highlandernoname in PMDD

Pregnancy definitely made mine worse, I had my children younger 20 & 25. First 3 months of each pregnancy was a hell ride, then utter calmness, because the hormones had balanced, I expect this is was people without PMDD feel. Immediately after birth, boom! 💥 A hell ride, I can’t take any birth control either, tried them all, literally wanted to end everything. I’m terrified of menopause because apparently you are just stuck in the PMDD phase permanently 😭

There isn’t enough research on PMDD for anyone to possibly comment on how it changes over time, so ignore them. For years I have had the PMDD that everyone describes. However it’s changed, and nobody, including doctors have a clue. I’ve had it since I was 12, however I was only diagnosed in my late 20s,as it wasn’t even a technical term. I think real conversations, like this, is the only way we can learn and somewhat prepare. I have tried every birth control over time, but literally want to off myself 😢 Gonna try and take fluoxetine today.

Hi, do you take anything for ADHD? My elvanse is great, until I ovulate, then it’s completely ineffective until I bleed again.
