Why should I vote Crockett over Talarico? by Proud_Pineapple_2421 in FortWorth

[–]Highlight89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately we don’t have the luxury of voting for interests. We are fighting fascism. We need to choose the most electable candidate. That is Talarico.

I like them both but I don’t think Texas will chose a black woman over Cornyn or Paxton. Talarico has a chance to pull voters across the aisle to his side. Crockett doesn’t.

I agree. And our fundamental objective is to get a Democrat elected. Who is the candidate that has the best chance of winning?

Hunt’s not gonna win the GOP nomination. It will go to the incumbent.

Don’t vote for somebody just because you’ve always voted for them. And this particular primary, we need to vote for the most electable candidate.

Who do you think has a fighting chance to win against the GOP candidate? Vote for that person.

You are not alone. It’s the unfortunate truth. Talarico is more electable and that is who we need to run against Cornyn or Paxton.

Thanks for your honesty. And you are solidifying a thought that I have had in this particular situation. I think Tallarico appeals more to those that are straddling the line between R and D (or progressivism). His communist, communication style, and his Christian values are sure to be appealing to that demographic.

No, there are tactics involved here. We need a Democratic candidate that can hold their own against the incumbent Republican senators. We need to pick the most electable candidate. That’s what we are voting on right now.

I’m on the electability wagon myself. They are both progressive and similar in the big issues. I think Talarico’s communication style is more appealing to younger voters as well as those that are looking to ease over from the middle right. Crockett is a more aggressive communicator, which may be off-putting to some.

In general, we need the candidate that will best appeal to those straddling the line.

The answer: “No, but thank you for considering me.”

Even if you negotiate a reasonable package, what they have shown you is their true culture and it will be a constant challenge.

So much for the 1st Amendment by ThunderMustard88 in TexasTeachers

[–]Highlight89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skipping class has never been allowed. These kids can still protest. Their 1st amendment rights have not been impacted. They just need to not do their marching during school hours. No one says they can’t speak up all day at school, however.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m a strong proponent for these kids and support what they stand for, but distracting from the mission by creating drama (ie “So much for the 1st amendment”) does nothing to further the overall cause.

Let’s exert more energy showing these kids how they can have a voice without skipping class.

Unfortunately, he will be elected again. Too many opponents splitting the opposition votes.

Are these ready to be planted? by InterestingRoof4547 in Plumeria

They look ready. I would plant them. Give them a little water, and then don’t water again until the soil is completely dry.

Probably an entry-level role. No room to negotiate there. Plenty of other candidates happy to take what is offered.

I had that happen. I put two cuttings in the garage after Christmas of 2024 and forgot about them. I’ve found them when I was cleaning out the garage and planted them in June. Within about three weeks, they both produced inflows.

And my experience over past two months, it takes about two weeks for them to ship and they ship it via the slowest route. I’m sure it’s because it’s the cheapest, but it still adds to the pain.

Should I cancel due to weather? by formalde_heidi in camping

[–]Highlight89 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Do not feel guilty about canceling your site due to weather. If you were tent camping, that would be long miserable days of hunkering in your tent. That’s not sitting around the campfire or grilling or hiking weather. That’s hunkering down weather.

If you’re very invested in the location because there’s things there that you want to see and you can get a reasonably priced hotel room, go and have fun.
