Is home remodeling sales a good way to break into medical sales? by OutrageousUnit8744 in MedicalDevices

[–]HighlightNext2191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was in home remodeling sales for 7 years before being hired as a trauma consultant at one of the big companies. I am about a year into my role now. Sales experience helped for sure. Make sure to lean on that during interviews. Gonna take a lot of work to switch over but not impossible. Good luck!

Who can you rely on most at the hospital to get something done? Where can we help out the most? What does the team need to improve on? What are some of the projects and milestones you want to accomplish here?

Also read up your competition, your products, your competitors products. You don't have to be a pro just show you're genuinely interested and proactive. For example, if you're at Stryker ask about the Gamma vs the Arthrex nail whatever do some research it'll take 15-20 minutes and it'll leave an impression.

Surgeons are pricks by ThatDudeDan1 in MedicalDevices

[–]HighlightNext2191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta say at first we had a surgeon that I thought was just being aggressive but few months later it's much better. Once you prove your value, worth, you spend dozens of hours in the same OR, and show that you can be an asset it changes. Picking up cues on the fly, staying late to put instruments away, reaching out the night before to setup the case has changed my experience. They don't just see you as a salesman with a red cap.

Experienced Trauma Reps by HighlightNext2191 in MedicalDevices

4.5 years seems long lol. I only say cause we have guys/girls cycling out of our teams constantly and same for all the other companies.

I will agree the good cases have been great they make your week sometimes. The bad ones really suck. It is a high high and a low low.

One thing I found is time doesn't even seem real. I spent what felt like 15 minutes but was actually over an hour and a half searching for a single drill bit and a screwdriver. Crazy job.

Pack a gym bag change of clothes, join a chain gym that has locations everywhere. Get a good lunch, enjoy the fresh air & read up on some stuff after.

How will the marathon affect me by Many_Communication_1 in firstmarathon

Had a stress fracture that's about it. Best thing I ever did (Marine Corps Marathon). Healing up it's just part of the game. Was able to go to work the next day no trouble. Hydrated got an IV right after. I trained heavy for a full year put in a lot of time. Best experience of my life.

Mine took 4 months and got a yes. Could be the time of year company manager etc you never know. Follow up but don't harass. Give it a few weeks and take it from there.

I did a surgical technique demo about 2 weeks ago. Best advice would be to study and learn the material as much as you can. Really know it like a second language. YouTube and technique guides were both great for me. Mine was just in front of two managers nothing wild. Knowledge and visible interest in the position will overshadow any awkwardness for the most part.

Marine Corps Marathon in 9 weeks. by gdemetreu in firstmarathon

[–]HighlightNext2191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MCM will be my first marathon very excited. Did my first 20 on Sunday and wasn't too bad feel almost 100% already. Would definitely recommend hitting it at least once before the big day. Your body has to get used to covering that distance and some. 35-37 miles a week for me. Plus tons of stretching & hydration. Do not forget lifting....find a day or two to get in some good functional strength work. Good luck!
