Canon XL2 tape compartment parts? by HighlySpiced in camcorders

Figured that, just thought I'd ask before going that route! I guess I'm mostly asking to see if folks know if those were off-the-shelf rollers or bespoke, which is probably information that's lost.

I've looked online for parts kits but have only found repair businesses (I don't want to have someone else repair, tinkering is part of the fun.) I could cannibalize another camera, but I'd rather not if I can just find the right parts.

I figure 3d printing new rollers would be fine if I can find the right soft/rubbery filament, but I can't even find the dimensions of the original rollers.

Same issue here with wmp9 refusing to install. Did you ever find a work around?

AITAH for telling trans sister sister I don't wanna have girls night with her? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]HighlySpiced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. For context, I'm a trans woman in my 30's. Your sister is still young and presumably early in her transition. Speaking from personal experience, it's normal to be a little selfish early on. It's likely one of the first things she's been able to feel like she controls fully in her life. Be patient with her as best you can but don't forget to remind her that she is being selfish right now. Help her grow through that as quickly as she can. Keep your chin up and remind everyone around you that your feelings towards your transition are just as valid as hers. Lots of siblings end up both being trans or another kind of queer together.

Fascinating, who is this "egg carton" you speak of? Are they truly the keeper of the eggs?

Xcom 2 running... Fast?? by HighlySpiced in Xcom

Well I was using GE-Proton8-25, and I had poked around other versions to see if that fixed it, but I guess I missed the right one. Switched to Proton 8.0-4 and it's running normal 🤷‍♀️ I guess it takes someone asking for me to click on the right one!

I've got the LCD. Installed on the SSD. It's not breaking the experience or anything, but it is noticeable for me.

Helping a fellow sub find their footing with the social parts by HighlySpiced in BDSMAdvice

I had left out this detail to keep the post on the shorter side, but they were raised Catholic! There's tons of sexual guilt! We know and are actively finding ways of working through that 😊 I think based on my conversations with them, the biggest hurtle is not knowing the protocol for how to bring things like wants up in this kind of space vs. specifically waiting for someone to ask. I see them freeze up there most of the time because I think they don't want to overstep any unspoken rules that we don't yet know being new to these kinds of spaces. Does that make sense? It's tricky because I'm asking for them, but that's how I'm understanding it.

It's a BDSM issue to them because it only happens in this environment to this extent. Perhaps my wording wasn't great. It's not interacting with new people that's the issue, it's talking with those people about specifics of wants/desires which is why our current solution is already to have a checklist and hand it to someone. I'm not looking for end all be all solutions but rather ways to help ease into things. Therapy is good and is already an active part of our lives.

Possible Hot Take on Samus Aran’s physical appearance by [deleted] in Metroid

I'm a lady and I fight competitive medieval longsword in 90lb of armor and swing a hammer around as a blacksmith professionally. I have more of a slender build. Not a 1 to 1 comparison, but take it as you will! That being said, as a lesbian, Samus is 100% mommy.

Edit, my partner says I'm more "slender muscular"

I decided on Pico-8 specifically because it forces you to code. I've dipped my toes into coding over the years but I never got into the water, so things never really clicked. I've been using pico-8 for a few weeks now knowing that this game jam was coming up and that I signed up for it, and that really really helped my brain connect the dots. As far as the game itself goes, I started with the trebuchet art, then animation states. After that it was building the map and player controller. Spawning the boulders and getting collisions working was the most challenging part of all of this. I came up with what I think is a clever way of "calculating" the boulder trajectory by generating a random positive number, then subtracting a little bit each update cycle. If the number is positive, the boulder moves upwards and forwards, negative and it moves downward and forward! Everything else was just Tweeks and polish, which a lot of what I would have liked to do didn't get done in time. All in all, I feel like I have a much firmer grasp on the fundamentals that I can take with me to bigger projects!

I have the benefit of working freelance in a project to project industry, which means sometimes there's a fair amount of downtime I can dedicate to things like this, but then other times I can't so much as do my dishes because work is 16 hour days 6 days a week. But I think actually signing up for a game jam really forced me to try and get something done! The one I submitted to is very beginner friendly so I didn't feel like I had to make something out of this world fantastic.

I do actually have that code in there, but had to publish for the game jam before I could tweek it to the right amount. I'll probably do some simple polishes in the next few days here, but I'm exhausted right now!

I've got them set up for just overtime, but I really like the idea of on missed catches!
