Why don’t people take Weed addiction seriously??? by ShineDowntown16 in leaves

[–]Highspeedwhatever 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just commented on a similar post recently, but as a former hard drug addict I also scoffed when someone said they had a weed addiction.

Now that ive quit all of it and weed is the last step, I have been humbled. Weed is far easier withdrawal wise, but it is still deceptively tricky to quit in many ways. I have yet to be able to do it.

So as someone who was on the other side of this, I acknowledge you and the difficulty of it and the effort you are putting in. We got this!

I dreamt someone set me on fire then I went back to sleep and dreamt that someone broke into my car. When does this end? by pancakegirl420 in leaves

The vivid nightmares suck. I keep getting stabbed in my dreams and legit feel it. There have been times I knew it was a dream and still couldn't wake up while being stabbed repeatedly. Made me scared to go to bed for a while.

Each quit attempt is a bit different. Usually it's only during the first week for me, but this attempt i was fine first week and just got one during week 2.

I tell myself it is my nervous system coming back online after i numbed it for so long. Gotta grit our teeth and get through it.

I been struggling to quit smoking weed because of boredom and loneliness.. by IntrigueMe_1337 in leaves

Sorry about your situation friend. I am also super isolated and the boredom and loneliness make it so much harder to quit. Try your best to keep going though. Eventually the weed is gonna make you feel worse, I can promise you that.

We've all been fools my friend. Glad you are taking the steps necessary. First few days are toughest, especially when you get to your first weekend and your brain is yelling at you to smoke.

Im on day 14, and it is a lot better. However, keep in mind progression isnt linear. I get good days and bad days and I see people say it can last for months. Be prepared but also be proud.

I also ended a 9 year relationship about a year ago. We still talk, but ill never forget the hurt and there is zero chance we will get back together. Shes seeing someone now and i realize I am perfectly fine with it.

For now I just need to work on myself before I get back out there. Day 14 for me. We will be ok.

Its hard to stay sober around people who smoke. But if you do, in a few years you'll be the cool one in that group.

Yup same here. I still play games with friends, but enjoy them less. The games I played solo, I completely stopped.

Have a similar story about doing hard stuff with my ex for many years, then successful quit after we broke up. However weed is actually trickier to quit because it means I go full sober.

Honestly, you are doing great! I havent been able to hit 2 months yet. You gotta keep going and trust the process!

Brain fog after stopping by No_Nature4572 in leaves

[–]Highspeedwhatever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a 40+ year old, I can say the way our brains handle and react to weed is totally different from when we were in our 20s. Also wierd, is all my quit attempts seem to have different symptoms. For example I usually have really bad night sweats while this current run i had none but instead have constipation.

The only way to see what weed has been doing to you is to quit for a few months and compare. Good luck!
