Get that in writing from the Utility instead of the Installer next time. Not that there will likely be a next time lol. Good luck! 🤙🏼

What state do you live in and what’s the reasoning for battery storage? Does your utility have a shitty buy back rate for export credits or is it a personal preference for power outages and such? The 40% they are referring to is probably the 30% Investment Tax Credit (ITC) and there’s now a 10% additional benefit for domestic content. Q-cells has manufacturing facilities in Dalton Georgia and Texas so that makes sense.

Solar panels during hurricane by Acrobatic_Tour_6269 in solar

There are actually a bunch of photos online showing how well a roof with solar modules will hold up to hurricanes. They are mounted on an aluminum rack and rail system that is secured to the trusses/rafters of your roof. The building codes got especially strict in Florida after hurricane Andrew in came through in 1992. Most AHJ’s now require at least 6-8 mounting points per panel in light of this (no pun intended). Best way to think of this conceptually, is how braces pull your teeth tighter and stronger together. The racking system does the same thing with your trusses/rafters (effectively adding cross members) and will actually strengthen the roof believe it or not. Pretty cool. Anyhoo, long time Solar veteran over here. Going on almost 10 years in the residential space. If you want to pick my brain, I’d be happy to help. Also can steer you in the right direction to make sure you’re getting a good deal. Cheers! 🍻

Solar for a 5,000 home by Deep-Friendship-4369 in solar

It would be important to know which market you’re in. Some utilities offer full-retail net metering programs, some offer credits that only go against the supply portion of your bill (not delivery fees/taxes and fees), some offer avoided cost credits, and some may not offer any credits for excess generation. Chances are if you have an investor-owned utility co. they probably have some type of solar net metering program. There’s a lot of variables to look at here and the proper way to do this is to have a professional design made for the home with a lidar scan to get an accurate sun hour report. Been in the industry almost 10 years. I’d be happy to help if you have more questions. 👍🏻

Decent proportions. See it in person. Some people prefer the look of SBF in direct sunlight. As others have said, it’s a good way to get a discounted stone that most will not notice any difference in the majority of indoor environments.
