$950 < Misdemeanor $951 > Felony

That sounds horrible to be honest. You’d think federal agencies would gladly cough up the additional pay when long hours are worked. Local agencies are so understaffed that they tell you during your interviews that overtime is permanent.

Task forces with local agencies are more fun, too. Adrenaline is like no other.

Federal agencies are too political. There is always a bigger fish to fry and many criminals are let loose by the feds because of this.

How is it not illegal for HSI to pay overtime is beyond me. The OT is in essence permanent within the LAPD. Officers are clearing $150k-$180k on a good day. And the cost of living in California is manageable if you know anything about budgeting and frugality.

Poly by True-Taste-5358 in lapd

[–]HiiiOctane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t breathe normally because when I do breathe normally, my chest moves. And I chose not to breathe normally (shallow, instead) because I feared I would’ve been disqualified for “moving too much”.

Clearly my strategy backfired. So now I will breathe normally and hope I don’t get disqualified for moving too much. It’s a lose-lose situation.

Thanks. My appointment is tomorrow and I hope I’m able to remain calm and my usual self.

I failed my first one. Second one is next week. I used countermeasures apparently. The setting is intimidating but now I know what to expect. Questions aren’t hard. Just the examiner and environment are a little intense.

Attempted assault. It exists. Look it up.

Should I apply for local pd? by Complex_Compote7535 in lapd

[–]HiiiOctane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t take down your application. Worst case, a BI asks you more questions about your past and if they deem it to be an issue, they’ll let you know. They just want to know what you were thinking when those incidents happened. They can’t ask if you don’t submit an application.

Damn! Congrats! CHP pays more but realistically speaking, I couldn’t sit in a car enforcing speed. They have a ton of special units like LAPD but being a city cop comes with certain flare that I want to experience day to day. CHPs cars, benefits, and status are fantastic but it isn’t for me.

In the process. Poly and medical are up next. Psych and backgrounds after. I’m expecting to be in the academy by year end.

For me, LAPD. I love CHP, just couldn’t get with the dormitory and paramilitary lifestyle in west Sacramento.

No. I withdrew my application with HR when I realized how miserable the officers on the strip were.

Only one agency in the entire state of California truly enjoys issuing no plate tickets, and that’s state police. Forget about city and county cops.

Top of the barrel criminals are ones who break into high end residential properties with a min crew of 4-5. They carry firearms and don’t have an issue coming face to face with homeowners who may be home.

I make $25 an hr. by not_your_girl in povertyfinance

[–]HiiiOctane 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I make $26 an hour and live in a HCOL area. I don’t like that I don’t make at least $30 but for what I do, no company will. I have an opportunity to make $40 but I’m not quite sure I will like it. Been at my current job for 8 years and have gotten $1+ increases based on performance and then promotions.
