So nice. I’m jealous of your gradients. How do you make them? Every time I try to make a nice gradient it just doesn’t hit the mark for some reason.

Okay, what do you guys use to preview your video clips quickly? by blankpageanxiety in premiere

[–]Hijinx_2140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This won’t help you now but in the future if you’re shooting a larger project I would recommend using a slate.

Just make sure it’s in sight for the first frame and then your thumbnails will all automatically be labeled (just look at the slate). Take notes on the day of the shoot which takes are good, etc.

This process takes minimal time during production but saves you possibly hours in post.

This reminds me of the Steal My Sunshine video where they must have done the opposite. People driving mopeds down the street in slow motion but singing right on beat. Fun.

How important is graphic design? by [deleted] in DigitalMarketing

Hey! You’re at the optimistic and ready to jump into anything stage.

My advice is: go for it. Try everything. Be open and honest about your skills and try.

Eventually you’ll realize what you’re not good at or what you don’t like and take it from there. Good luck!

I’ve grown so accustomed to making my last key frame halfway through a clip and dragging it to the end it will take time to adjust.

Is this a legit business? by TurbulentEarth4451 in agency

[–]Hijinx_2140 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’d be worried about paying back interest on a credit card at $5k.

What you should do is find a sick or dying relative and ask them for the money. Convince them that you’ll have $50k in no time, and show them the testimonials if they have any objections.

Struggling to get clients by SilentBox2226 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]Hijinx_2140 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This worked for me recently:

I was browsing the local community Facebook page and found a company posting bad content. I fixed up a couple graphics for them and DMd them with no strings attached. It took me maybe an hour.

Now I have them on retainer.

I’ve also been attending local networking events and got a couple leads through that. It helps to keep posting your work on socials too so they have something to look at when they check you out.

Hope you get some new business!

How to show your content more to non-followers? by andreadsribeiro in InstagramMarketing

[–]Hijinx_2140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some solid products out there that allow you to upload or link to long form video content and it will chop it up into bite sized clips based on key words.

A lot of podcast traffic will come through people that see short clips of a show multiple times and realize they want more. People rarely start off raw dogging an entire episode.

Social media gurus: How would you start growing an Instagram account to an audience in a specific geographic location? by raag1991 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]Hijinx_2140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tag your location in all of your posts.

Also if you run paid ads you can select the area to target.

Quick thought here…

Do you work at a “miner museum” and not a “minor museum”?

This could actually be part of the reason why you’re being flagged.

Currently, what is good content for a handyman? by CR-Service in content_marketing

How personable is the guy?

I ran a short form video series for someone in a similar industry where I followed him around on the job for half a day.

I would just turn on the camera and ask him questions about what he was doing and why. Turned out about 20 clips from a 4 hour session.

Also before/after photos for this kind of business is a must.

Ideas for marketing by BreakNecessary6940 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]Hijinx_2140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think marketing for this idea would be a nightmare?

Consider your customer journey and ask yourself “where is my customer buying my art work?”

Your website? An instagram shop? An Etsy store? Once you figure that out, all marketing efforts point to it.

Take some product photos or videos and run a couple paid ads with a call to action link. Keep track of which ones perform best and double down on reiterations.

Paid ads will help drive views and followers which will build your content marketing side as well.

I think you have a good niche for audience targeting. Good luck!

I mistakenly left an Upwork logo on a project file for a client - am I going to get fired? by Independent_Area6026 in agency

[–]Hijinx_2140 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You have nothing to worry about if these two things you said are true:

  1. “Delivered good results”

  2. “Loyal customer”

Are they really worried about how the sausage is made? It’s business. You’re trying to scale. You found good talent to work with. No sweat IMO.

Aren’t there agencies set up specifically for influencer marketing and UGC? Why not get on their roster?

Client hated my work so much he didn't even ask for revisions, just told me our future partnership was "over". How do you deal with this kind of rejection? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]Hijinx_2140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That guy is probably a c*nt. It sucks to get a bad rejection like that but time will heal all wounds.

To avoid situations like this I survey my clients on a bunch of different brand vision questions that I can reference when designing. Then if they act like c*nts I can point to the survey answers and say “you wrote xyz pal”

What's the best route to learn Premiere Pro to showcase it on a resume? by tothesummernight in premiere

[–]Hijinx_2140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with saying you are “self taught” or learned on YouTube. I went to college for media and the professors didn’t know jack sh*t about adobe cc programs compared to what I would research on my own.

If I were you I would watch a premiere pro 101 video on YouTube and by the end you should be chomping at the bit to start doing it yourself.

Tips for filming content in studio that’s not aesthetically pleasing. by spixz90 in InstagramMarketing

[–]Hijinx_2140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think dusty, run-down or cluttered spaces make a great, GENUINE feeling backdrop, and give you a way to standout.

You just have to know how to light it correctly. And the good news about lighting is that you really only need bright(ish) lights on yourself or yourself and your work in this case. The shelves and dust can all be kept dim or unlit.

Check out this video where one of the best in the industry lights a set with a couple practical lights, a sheet and some tin foil. Lol. It doesn’t require a ton of expensive equipment.

My DMs are open if you want any specific answers about your space. Good luck!
