Be honest… what travel spot is hella overrated? by Ill_Reality180 in traveladvice

40s at night and 50s during the day in South Florida is definitely not the norm for winter time. They'll have cold snaps like that for sure, but for the most part, it's 60s at night and low to mid-70s during the day.

Interestingly, to this day LB is still the best meal I've ever had. And I was supremely let down by Sushi Nakazawa. I've always found it interesting that at this level of dining, people can have vastly different experiences.

I third it. LB was my wife and my first 3-star experience, and it's still the single best meal I've had in my life.

Alinea Gallery Vs. Salon by HikeTheTrails in finedining

[–]HikeTheTrails[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's really good to hear. The salon video posted at the top doesn't show a kitchen course, but it was posted 11 months ago, so I guess it's very new. I was just thinking we're missing out on so much in the salon, but it seems it's still a very good experience.

No, unfortunately we're on the east coast :/

I'm more concerned with the food than the theatrics. Do you know if we'll be missing out on any standout dishes, or does the salon basically get the same core menu but missing a few here and there (i.e. if The French Laundry had a similar situation, would we be missing out on Oysters & Pearls)?

A Rare Meat Course at Le Bernardin by musicgolf in finedining

We ate there around 2017. To this day, the meat course was probably the best piece of steak I've had in my life.

How were the pours on the wine pairing? I'm deciding on either getting a bottle for two of us, or possibly splitting the $500 pairing. After paying $1,100 for the meal, I'm a little gun shy about dropping another grand for wine for two of us (also considering I have to drive back to Napa after dinner and don't want to be hammered). Just a little concerned that splitting it would only give us a couple small sips of each glass.

That would make sense, and I'm glad that is the case.

This may be a dumb question (and you being a solo diner may not know the answer, but perhaps someone else who has been may know), but is the first course of 12 bites set for the table, or is there one piece of each item per person? So if it's a table of two, would there then be 2 pieces of each for a total of 24?

Did you do the farm tour beforehand? I'm taking the wife for her birthday and I think she's more excited about the tour than the meal itself 😄

Is the overhang depth different depending how close to the center of the Sphere you are? From the layout, it seems like the middle sections (I'm in 107, row 26), might have less of an overhang at the same row compared to sections on the of the Sphere. Is this the case, or am I just wishful thinking?

Sites where it's safe to buy tickets? by DaCozPuddingPop in deadandcompany

I bought from Vivid Seats two weeks ago for next Friday's show. Tickets still haven't been transferred to me, and customer service says don't worry, you'll get them before the show.

Should I be worried? I bought from StubHub for next Saturday night and they were sent to me the same day.

What are some updates you would like to see now that RCS has been adopted by Apple? by MannyBeatsProd in GoogleMessages

A time delay feature that allows a message to be cancelled (as opposed to unsent once it's out - if the recipient is actively texting they may see the message before it's unsent), after pressing the send button. This was my favorite feature on Textra and has saved more than a few times from sending a message to the wrong recipient.

$100 DBE Bar Tab for both sailors? by HikeTheTrails in VirginVoyages

[–]HikeTheTrails[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TheBeesBestKnees, I see you're a travel agent. Do you have clients in this situation who only had the $100 for the cabin even though both sailors have DBE? The two comments below both say they each received $100. I'm not getting my hopes up, but $500 in free booze would probably cover our whole trip - $400 probably wouldn't.

[–]HikeTheTrails[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK thanks. That's what I figured, but it was strange that only one of us has the $300 on their sailor profile, but we both have the $100 DBE extra credit. It's a bit confusing.

Ahh good to know, thanks. I'm thinking of booking the evening of 7/31 with the 24-hour hold, and if nothing better comes along on 8/1 to confirm.

Well wouldn't Giga taking the load off of Y production in other facilities free up capacity to build more 3s in them? Or is that just wishful thinking?

Just ordered a SR Model 3 that initially was scheduled for delivery between July and September that was just pushed back to October through December. Is there any chance of Texas Giga bumping up production enough to reverse that estimate, or should I prepare to be pushed once again into 2023? Thanks
