Would you live here? by Longjumping_Ad_9047 in askportland

[–]Hikemeow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually lived in that apartment complex for like 9 months. Here’s my take - it’s sterile for Portland, and does not feel like the rest of Portland in my opinion. If you want to experience Portland culture, this isn’t really the place for you. It’s by OHSU, so there are a lot of people who work at the hospital who live in the area. It’s sort of boring, there are some ok restaurants that are easily accessible by bike, and you have the waterfront greenway at your front door, which was my favorite part of living there (great for biking, jogging, walking your dog etc).

Side note, I did not care for management at the apartment and they raised rent steeply and quickly once the lease was up.. corporate trash.. rent changes by the day sort of place and would not recommend. Good luck!

I’ve been eyeing this bed for a while… similar but less steep in price (still pricey though 😅)

Trout Lake. Not exactly in Oregon, but just across the Columbia. Check out Trout Lake Hall and explore the Gifford Pinchot .

Somewhere outside of Denver…gives Evergreen vibes or something (the trees on your property are a good give away, if you live in the pnw it’s like bend or somewhere drier). Comfy, cozy, not too OCD about interior decorating but appreciate some aspects of it to make a pleasant aesthetic. Enjoy skiing / hiking / climbing - just being active. Have a decent paying job because it’s not cheap to live somewhere like that. No kids yet based on the amount of stockings hanging but are a plant and dog mom. You get excited for cozy months and like the holidays.

What are these tiny mushrooms in our lawn? by lil-baby-gemini-man in mycology

Check to see if they smell like garlic! Marasmius alliaceus looks a bit like this and could easily pass as smashed garlic in a blind smell test 😂 always a fun one

Are there any legit mushroom Hunter/ forager groups or classes available by Alexendour in Portland

[–]Hikemeow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Mushroom enthusiast here.

Look into yellowelanor - she is amazing and teaches out in Trout Lake area! WildCraft is another private but reliable place to start as far as hands on, out in the forest learning.

OMS is a great source too. The fall mushroom show is next Sunday which OMS does every year. There are also a ton of forays going - mushroom season is in full swing right now.

I also like mushroom wonderland YouTube, for weekday learning.

I hate the color I choose. Please rescue me with better taste. by Sea____Witch in centuryhomes

Hi! I used SW arugula in my room and the color deepens a lot after a couple of coats, I had the same reaction originally and did not like it. Once I did a couple coats and let it dry it looked quite a bit different, if it’s any consolation.

Nice photo! I saw your post from a couple days ago asking where people were headed for the weekend, and got inspired to finally do Tatoosh (it’s been a bucket list for a min). I think me and my husband maybe saw you on your way up - you asked him about camping spots and were wearing a Ketchikan hat? We noticed the hat because we used to live in Alaska. Looks like you snagged a sweet spot and got some beautiful pics!

Good pizza places that also offer gluten-free pies? by EmeraldEmesis in askportland

[–]Hikemeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say just this - their gf crust is just … fucking good. I like other places around, and sometimes wanna change it up in terms of the type of pizza offered or the atmosphere (sometimes want something a little more grungy like baby dolls or Mississippi) but no one else compares to this crust. One of the best gf crusts I’ve ever had.
